Has anyone shot in one of the Competition Dynamics Match events?
I'm thinking of trying their Steel Safari, Thunder Beast team Challange or the Combat Biathlon Series and would like to learn/hear more about them. I like the fact that they combine hunting or tactial skills, fitness and shooting into one package but wonder how well they pull it off since it requires a number of evaluators and targets spread all over a large area.

Also if you competed, what sort of rifle/carbine setup did you use and what "other" equipment did you take for the competition?

Thanks!

yep, great matches! very well run. Zak runs them and is a moderator here. Hoser (another mod) also helps or shoots most of them.

I'll try to post more later about equipment, though I didn't do too well...

I have been shooting their matches for years.

Zak and his crew put on very solid national level matches.

The matches challenge all levels of shooters making for a very well rounded competition.

Everything is very well organized.

Highly recommended.

Basically, CD is the result of my experience running matches for the last about 7 years, along with a small core of match staff (my Asst. MD's) who have been doing the same thing, some going back further (SOF 3Gun, RM3G) and some with different backgrounds (other pro sports, military, etc). All of us have been involved with shooting and running the Steel Safari going way back (operating it since 2008), and the Colorado MultiGun matches in the 2006-2007 timeframe (Practical Rifle Team Challenge and the Camp Guernsey Invitational Multi-Gun), as well as as competing in a variety of pistol, 3Gun, multi-gun, and long-range matches.

During 2008-2010, the Steel Safari was the only major match we were running, and in 2011 we branched out to add the Thunder Beast Team Challenge. This year we added the 24-Hour Sniper Adventure Challenge and also teamed up with SniperHide to run the SnipersHide Cup. If you go look at the SnipersHide Cup feedback, it was 100% positive and it raised the bar for what people expect at a major/national/world level field long-range rifle match. It ran flawlessly and ahead of schedule even though its format/scheduling was not identical to typical precision matches or 3Gun matches.

Last week we just finished the 24-Hour Sniper Adventure Challenge, which was a huge divergence from anything that's been done, sort of a "new sport" in itself, and there were only a few hiccups. We had competitors and RO's spread out over an approx 20 square mile area for 30+ hours...

Each one of our events has a different format and set of challenges, but I try really hard to make sure that everyone knows the objectives and scoring for each one. and that each event runs without flaw.

Of the matches, the Steel Safari is the most established and the challenges in it are most well known. The Thunder Beast Team Challenge could be thought of as the Steel Safari for a team, with more physical challenge, and some assault-style stages added.

Given that we are 75% through our major matches for 2012, we are looking at what new events or changes to make for the 2013 schedule.
