And maybe a stupid question, but -

Does anyone know (approximately) how many pieces of .38 Special brass a 5 gallon bucket would hold?

How about .45 ACP?

Like I said, I know it's a long shot, but I figure there's enough of you guys out there sitting on huge stashes of brass, and somebody probably uses 5 gallon buckets to store their stuff.

So...anybody able to help? Thanks!:):)

I could tell you in .50 Cal. GI ammo cans.
But I'd have to count them first!

5 gal buckets are more for 12 ga hulls in my reloading room.

Regardless, it's a lot of .38 Spl / .45 ACP brass!

Hm. Thanks for the reply. Like I said, I figured it'd be a long shot.

I have 500 .38 special cases sitting in a one gallon plastic bag next to me, and was trying to figure out if the buckets would just be better long run. I plan on offering my brass for sale, but I'd rather have more than 500 rounds at once for sale, ya know?

Check your local backery or grocery store bakery.

They get cake frosting in Square 2.1 gal. plastic buckets with snap-on lids.
They stack nicely when full and should be great for selling brass.

Most bakerys will give them away, or sell them for like .50 cents each w/lids.
