Hello!
Working yesterday and today, I have finished converting my Saiga 5.45mm. I used a Hogue grip, a KVAR AK-74 style NATO length stock, and the original forend. I was able to shoot it during a break in the rain, and grouped about twice as good as I did with the original gun. The ergonomics are much better, and the trigger is absolutely superior than the factory set up.
The conversion was fairly easy, and that's coming from someone with zero gunsmithing experience beyond cleaning a few rimfire rifles and my Mosin and Hi Point 995ts. It's functioning flawlessly, and nothing at all rattles or wiggles (I removed the sling swivels).
The light is a NEBO Protec 190-Lumen light. It's already seen about 2 months of use on my Hi Point, and is holding up fine. It was a great buy. I replaced the front swing swivel with a short Tapco rail, and used the original screw. It fits great, and the light beam is straight.
