I was at the range shooting some 41 magnum handloads. I was loading Federal large pistol primers, starline cases, unique powder (7.5 grains).

I had two different projectiles - MBC coated lead 225 grain and the xtreme 210 copper plated.

There was significantly more flash for the xtreme bullet load. Is that because of the reflection on the copper?

Less pressure so the flame of ignition lasted longer.

No, it can't be light reflecting off the base of the bullet. You can't see the base of the bullet.

Muzzle flash is caused by a mixing of hot (very) combustion gasses with O2 rich air, leading to an additional burst of combustion until the gasses cool. Bullet color makes no difference, although bullet material could change pressure, thereby changing chemistry, a little bit.

A very little bit. I suggest a repeat trial, blind, before submitting for publication. I suspect you won't be able to replicate your results.
