hey guys im sending my fun permit application in next month and i was wondering if any of you could post pics/suggestions of holsters you think would be good for either a smith and wesson 642 or a sig p226/229 for conceal carry. i am a big guy roughly 300 so baggy clothes isn't a problem for me to wear every day.

Had the Desantis Scorpion IWB holster highly recommended to me from a very knowledgeable range officer at the DFW Gun Range. Most of the gentlemen there carry Glocks, Sigs, or 1911s, and I was informed the majority of them use the Desantis.

I'm shopping around myself for another holster. Most are going to be to bulky for the way I dress, but by the sounds of it this might not be a bad holster for you.

Also I would go to youtube and type in "concealed holster" Nutnfancy does really great review on firearms and holsters. He's recommended a few Galco Products such as the 'Summer's somethingoranother" and the "Royal Guard"

You really have to ask yourself what's your objective towards concealed carry. Faster draw, comfort and/or concealment.

If you live in a dangerous neighborhood and you think the likelihood of you having the pull your firearm is higher than you should consider going for a faster draw. Appendix position, strongside, or 5 o'clock canted might be good for you.

If you really don't think you're going to be pulling your gun, but you'd like to have it and have it be holstered comfortable enough so that you actually carry it I might honestly suggest a belly band for deep concealment, and comfort.

After you decide what makes the most sense for you for a day in and day out carry (and of course you carry style can vary depending on weather, dress, mood) then start shopping "What's the best concealment holster for IWB appendix" or "What's a good belly band brand". It will help you narrow it down. But the Keypoint is that you need to a "SYSTEM" and one that is comfy enough so you don't start leaving your sidearm at home!

Hope this is a good start. Looks like you got some more research to do! ;)

For the Sig, I'd suggest looking at the C-TAC (kydex both sides) and M-TAC (kydex outside, leather inside) holsters from comp-tac.com.

These are both highly configurable, letting you experiment at will with location, height and cant until you find the combination that works best for you (it took me about a dozen tries, and boy was I glad I bought an adjustable holster).

After that, you can stick with the comp-tac, or look for a single-position holster that matches the configuration that fits you best.

after bianchi and some others I got a simply rugged holster and it fits me great. I am 5'10 150 pounds so YMMV. But yea, its nice and comfortable for all day driving or walking or whatever. I can use it IWB or OWB, i like IWB but its nice to have versatility

This is my Sig P229R Elite in a Galco CON250H.

Even being a pretty heavy gun, it fits comfortably and is very easily concealed with normal clothes.
