If approached by a police officer on your property for any reason (investigation, neighborhood canvas, simple howdy-doo, etc) would you be require to inform him if you were carrying concealed? For example you were on your porch at night and a cop walked up to ask you a question. If it happened on public property (I live in NC) you would be required to inform him of your CCW permit and that you are carrrying if asked or not. But I have not read anything pertaining to your own property. I would hope I would never have a reason not to inform, but it would still be nice to know if you were required by law. Any info would be apprecitated. I apologize if this has been asked on here prior, as I am new to this site.

I live in NC. You can carry any concealed weapon of your choice on your own property, per GS 14-269:

§ 14‑269. Carrying concealed weapons.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person willfully and intentionally to carry concealed about his person any bowie knife, dirk, dagger, slung shot, loaded cane, metallic knuckles, razor, shurikin, stun gun, or other deadly weapon of like kind, except when the person is on the person's own premises.

(a1) It shall be unlawful for any person willfully and intentionally to carry concealed about his person any pistol or gun except in the following circumstances:

-----(1) The person is on the person's own premises.

-----(2) The deadly weapon is a handgun, and the person has a concealed handgun permit issued in accordance with Article 54B of this Chapter or considered valid under G.S. 14‑415.24.

-----(3) The deadly weapon is a handgun and the person is a military permittee as defined under G.S. 14‑415.10(2a) who provides to the law enforcement officer proof of deployment as required under G.S. 14‑415.11(a).

yes, most states you can dress like a cowboy, put on your 6 shooters and whistle that cowboy song or try to conceal a 12g shotgun. Only thing I'd suggest is if they about to fit you for some stainless steal bracelets, you might want them to know so they don't "find" it on you and the cop mishandles the gun and it goes off.

It depends on the laws of your state. Some state's laws require you to inform an officer that you are carrying when the contact is "official" -- or whatever words the particular law uses. I haven't seen any that make an exception for when the contact is on your property.

From a legal perspective, laws vary from state to state. In Texas, you can carry open or concealed on your own property. That does not enable you to engage in conduct that would create a breach of the peace, alarm another person, or cause another person to fear for their wellbeing.

From a SAFETY perspective (yours as well as the officers) it is always a good idea to notify the officer you are armed. (As previously mentioned, some states require that you do so.) Why not communicate your status with the officer rather than risk somebody getting hurt if he/she observes the weapon and escalates the situation? If you aren't breaking any laws, you have nothing to fear.
