Conceal Carry On Property and Business without permit July 12 2012

July 12 2012 It will finally become legal to conceal carry on your own property and your own business (without a permit). It was actually illegal to conceal on your own property for a long time (without a permit).

I am not sure if anyone got arrested for concealing on ones own property, but I think it was one of those things that needed to be changed over the years...but never was until now.

But anyway, a bit of happy news from the Bluegrass State.

Legislative News Releases Updated June 27, 2012

New laws go into effect July 12

FRANKFORT -- New laws approved during the Kentucky General Assembly's 2012 regular session go into effect on July 12.

Concealed deadly weapons. HB 484 will allow Kentuckians to carry concealed weapons without a license on their property or place of business.

It was legal to open carry within the state anyway. I know many out in the country (not the city) that carried open if they felt they needed to. I always thought it was stupid to be illegal to CC in your business or property w/o a permit.

By the way, I was helped by a good ole boy open carrying one night when I was a LEO. I absolutely have no problem with a citizen of this country carrying their piece. I still carry CCW now that I'm retired, but I also open carry on the farm.

Congratulations Midwest. It's about time.

That is the ONLY thing about Illinois' gun laws that have been good. As long as you had a vailid FOID card, you have been able to carry in your "fixed" place of business or on your property for years. :)
Of course, if you OC outside your home, even if still on your property, you are VERY likely to get a "visit" because of some know-nothing numbnut making an MWAG call. :what: :cuss:
You can even be sitting in your open carport or garage cleaning a broken down firearm and get a visit. :banghead:
