Hello,

I have come to this website in search of knowledge from a group of smart and respectable people. I am a part of a search and rescue team and i have a question, for the sake of leagality all i can say is if i were to hypothetically have a search in francis marion national forest in south carolina would i be able to carry my sidearm? I am liscensed to concealed carry in the great state of south carolina privately. please help, Thank you.

That's not correct - there is no linkage to State park carry. If you are legal to carry outside the gate to the NP, you're legal to carry inside the park. In whatever method is legal in your state.

Take a look here: www.handgunlaw.us for more info on specific state laws, like whether the state allows carry in its parks.

If you can carry in the state, you can carry in national parks and forests, too.

State parks, State Forests, national Forests and National Parks in one state can all have different laws/Regulations on Carry.

If you can carry in the state the National Park is in you can carry in the National Park.

State and National Forests are usually covered under the same state law/regulation. The Federal Gov does not have a law/regulation on carrying in National Forests. They go by state law on them. Some states allow it and some states don't. Same with State Parks. They are covered by state law. Some states allow it and some states don't.

www.handgunlaw.us and click on the map of the state you want info about. That states page will open. Carry in State Parks/Forests, Nat Forests, WMA etc is all covered on each states page. Hope this helps.
