I currently carry a Taurus 85, but I am looking for something more powerful.
I am thinking along the lines of a SP101 in .357, but due to a setback that may delay my purchase, I decided to look at other options while I wait.

Now, to my questions.

1) What is your concealed carry gun?

2) Is it what you would call ideal, or is there another gun that you are planning to get to replace it?

"1) What is your concealed carry gun?"

Makarov

"2) Is it what you would call ideal, or is there another gun that you are planning to get to replace it?"

I don't know if I'd call it "Ideal", but it's pretty darn good and I have no plans to replace it

I carry a Glock 26 -- that's the baby Glock in 9mm.

I love it and have no plans to change it, ever.

The fascination of shooting as a sport depends almost wholly on whether you are at the right or wrong end of the gun. -- P. G. Wodehouse

At this moment I'm wearing a Keltec P-11
My other favorite is a full size 1911

I carried nothing but 1911's and K frames, since ...forever, with a J frame thrown in from time to time.

Lets put it this way, I have always carried J,K frames and 1911's, the P-11 fills a niche and my only poly gun. I do not carry what I can't get quick accurate hits with. Shot placement is the key.

I chose a platform (s) too many years ago, I believe in multiples of same , and I have stuck with it ever since. I carried/used 1911's and K frames as a kid. Bought myself for HS graduation an all steel Colt Combat Commander in 1973, few years laters I bought my own K frame. I still buy these platforms and won't change...I'm a CIT ;)

FWIW , I have a lady friend that carries either the 85 or J frame, usually 2.
She will outshoot most with her guns and she is in no way "underpowered" I timed her , 1.0 sec from concealed to first shot and she put all all 158 gr LSWC HP's in a playing card from 7 yds. She can watch my six anyday.

1) Kimber SLE (4".45acp) or Smith 24-3 (3".44sp).
Once carried a Taurus M85 SS w/3" barrel, but passed that down to my son.
2) Both ideally suit me.

I carry a Colt Commander. As a backup gun, or when weather/clothing doesn't let me conceal a Commander, I carry a S&W AirLite .357 snubby.

Carried a Kel-Tec P11 for years, then upgraded to a Glock 27. What I'd really like is a single stack .40 cal ... specifically, a slimmed down Glock 23. I do carry a S&W 4013 on occasion.

I tend to like smaller guns so I could comfortably carry just about anything we own in the winter.

For the summer it is usually a SIG P239 .40, HKP7M8, or a Jframe .357 magnum.

The P7 and J frame will go into baggy shorts pockets and dissappear and require no change of dress.

I think the P7M8 is probably one of the best CCW ever designed, but I still think the ultimate in CCW pieces is a Jframe sized revolver in .357 magnum. It doesn't have to be a Smith just a snubby around J frame size. They really are the go anywhere but still have serious firepower gun IMHO.

I use a Glock 26 as well for concealed carry, and have no plans of changing. It's the best handgun for CCW that I've ever had.

=>1) What is your concealed carry gun?
Astra A-70 (Thanks again, Frank!) 7+1 of .40S&W plus two mags.

=>2) Is it what you would call ideal, or is there another gun that you are planning to get to replace it?
Still debating the next purchase. When I still had my 9mm, I was heavily looking for a good carry gun. Since I got the .40, I may go ahead and get an SKS next, then another carry gun. :)

A P-32 or a Kahr K40 Covert when it is under 90 or so.

There are some other guns I wouldn't mind owning to carry, a Glock 26, Para Companion Carry Option or other Para Carry gun, PM9, but what I have works and doesn't lose or win much over most other stuff in my eyes.

Right now, I'm carrying a used S&W 6906 9mm with hicap mag. It was inexpensive to purchase ($239 from CDNN a few months ago), small enough to conceal effectively, and 9mm ammo fits my current budget for practice. The gun is pretty accurate and easy to handle.

Maybe one day I can afford a SIG or Para, but until then I have to live within my budget.

I Like LIGHT and I won't shoot anything stronger then .38 +P in a revolver. With .357 magnum either the gun is too heavy or the recoil/flash/BOOM is too much for defensive work. - YMMV

Although I don't currently own one, a Glock 26 should make a NICE carry piece.

I carried a Kel-Tec P11 for a long time and I must admit it was an OK gun and I still have it but then I found Kahr products, what a difference. I now carry the all stainless Kahr K40. What a great gun it is. She's a little heavy but nothing you can't get used to. Very slim with a great trigger (which is what made me switch from the Kel-Tec), super accurate with 3.25 barrel and Trijicon nite sites. She's in .40 caliber which many experts feel is a much better cartridge than 9mm. I'm no expert so not wanting to start a "Caliber" war, I'll move on.
If your into .357 Magnum, check out Taurus' new model 651 Protector. I looked at one and bought it on the spot. It has a shrouded hammer so it's D/A or S/A and is a nice gun in a great caliber. I installed a set of Wolff springs and it has a trigger action that is perfect (IMO).I wish I had purchased a stainless one for about $50 more but got the beautiful deep dark blue instead. I just think revos look better in blue but they do require more care. Old saying in Florida, "If it's blued you're screwed" because we sweat a lot down here and blued guns rust if not taken care of. As of yesterday, since the great state of Georgia finally decided to bequeath my CCW permit upon me, it's a P239 in .40. Given the temperatures, my figure, and my preferred dress, I think it's perfect for me although it felt awful weird toting a pistol around in public while I was running my errands today.

I may be in the market for a P7M8 soon though.

Currently back to my Glock 19.

Carried a P7 for months but I started to rust it when it got hot. Haven't decided on my anti-corrosion finish yet, so I just run with the Glock; I don't care if it rusts.

:D

Ideal? The Glock is reliable, light, jammed with more ammo than I need to make me happy, especially since I carry a spare. That said, I don't really like Glocks; the grip is slightly awkward and fat and I'm certainly not a fan of the trigger.

But it's good enough, y'know?

:p

I carry a pre-agreement Smith & Wesson model 60 five-shot .357 magnum revolver. I'd consider a lighter version of the same revolver; the cartridge, however, is ideal for me: enough stopping power to get the job done, but not so much recoil I couldn't control it.

My "always gun" is my Kahr MK40. it's accurate, fires a potent cartridge, and conceals under nothing more that a T-shirt. that said, if it is at all cool enough to throw a cover garment on, I'll carry my namesake Beretta 92F. I'm *far* more accurate with it, and even without a spare mag it holds 4 more rounds than the Kahr *with* a spare. I am planning on getting a 1911, and if I find it's reliable, and half as concealable as the Kahr, I'll carry that instead. except perhaps in the dead of summer.
