Hi all,

I have owned guns and been shooting since I was 8 and am now 24. It was not until recently that I got into conceal carry. I have a few pistols, and although I prefer my .357 for conceal carry it is a little bulky. I recently bought a cz-82 to use for CCW but have a few questions regarding it. I would like to carry a round chambered with the hammer down. I am uncomfortable with cocked and locked especially on an older weapon like that. My question is...what is everyones opinion on the safety of this method. My biggest question is can the gun accidently discharge if the hammer is hit hard pushing it forward? Is this possible or does the double action have features built in to not allow this.

The CZ 82 is completely safe to carry with the hammer down on a loaded chamber. First shot will be the long DA pull and subsequent shots will be SA.

Great gun you have there! These CZ's are a tremendous value right now.

This thread at The Firing Line suggests that the 82 has a hammer block, which would keep the hammer from contacting the firing pin in the event that the gun was accidentally dropped on the hammer.

So yeah, carrying it decocked should be fine.
