Concealed Carry

I already visited this thread when it was opened, but have since noticed the OP's nick. I take it you're delivering pizza for a living or extra money?

This is something I have done off and on for coming up on thirty years now. Full-time at first (way back!) and PT since. I still do it one night a week.

Over the years, I have been set up for robbery at least a handful of times, but have always "sniffed it out" before anything could go down, and was able to self-extract.

Visit the sticky at or near the top of the discussion board here:

www.tipthepizzaguy.com/discussion for more on robbery-prevention tactics. The rest of the board has slid downhill in the decade or so it's been open, but there's still some interesting stuff there.

Be safe.

Incidentally, I carry a P32 in a front pocket while running pies, and keep my PF-9 stuffed between my seats for "run-up" ambush situations. I carried that PF9 on my belt until earlier this year when our uniform standard changed to require shirts to be tucked in.

It's unlikely I'll be targeted again if seen first, though. Too many people mistake me for (still) being in law enforcement. ;)

The Ruger LC9 is a good option. Since Ruger just came out with a striker fired version LC9s, you might be able to find a good deal on the original LC9.

Yeah, I like my LC9, but am dumping it for the new S version which has a better trigger.

Kick's like a mule?

Ruger's LC9, for example, is a fairly popular pocket pistol, due to it's low price and reasonably high quality. The thing is, it's reputed to kick like a mule, and many hate shooting it. New gun for carry, but it hurts so much to shoot it that you just don't want to? That's a crappy place to find yourself, IMO.

This hasn't been my experience at all. The grip is slim for me, I put a grip sleeve on mine to give me a little more to hang on to. It is a small and light pistol, it certainly will have more felt recoil than a full sized 9mm pistol.
I took a friend shooting who had fired a pistol on only one other occasion. He fired 4 of my pistols that day and liked my little LC9 the most. I like mine a lot, reportedly the LC9s has a better trigger.

I carry the Taurus 709 Slim and I'm very pleased with it.

My budget was smaller than yours. I only had about $400 to work with. I chose the Taurus over the Ruger LC9. At the time the LC9's trigger wasn't what I wanted. It would not reset after each shot, so you had to completely let the trigger go back to its original position for a follow up shot. I wanted the option of practicing double taps (I don't really think this would make a real world difference but it was my thought process at the time).

Now the LC9 has changed the trigger so I would look hard at that route if I had it to do over.

No complaints about my 709 Slim though. I sit at a desk all day so it rests in an ankle holster and it's so slim and comfortable, I absolutely forget its there.

just a reminder some of us carry revolvers and love em . personal choice auto or revolver for CC I like my 44 special steel revolver . not a fan of plastic light guns . a little heft feels good .

Pete a little heft definitely has its advantages. It makes for less felt recoil which leads to more accuracy and quicker on target follow ups.

I wouldn't feel undergunned with a revolver at all. I love the SP101s and the 3" GP100s.
