Welcome to the forum. Wow, registered in 2008 but first post this past week, I wouldn't have had that discipline.
I think I'm with those who would use this as a good excuse to get a new gun. Why mess with a gun that you like as it is for a part of the year problem? Get something new to use in coat weather. My choice would be the Kimber K6S, probably with the 3" barrel. The K6S has the concealed hammer (so called hammerless) like the 642/442, but has 6 shots and from all accounts is much easier/more comfortable to shoot. The 3" barrel is IMO the best for carry- you get a bit more velocity (and thus effectiveness) out of your round v. using a 2" and you get a full length ejector rod (2" barrel ejector rods may not efficiently eject a magnum round), while still being quite concealable. Of course, you can also go with the 2" for the versatility of a gun that can be worn on the belt or put in a pocket (it would go in your coat pocket quite nicely).
Another option would be getting another Speed Six or a similar K-frame and if you don't find one that has had the hammer already bobbed, have the work done. That way, you'll still have your old favorite the way it has always been, and have something very similar that won't catch on your coat while you are going about your daily business.
