When I got my permit I decided I would never break the law (including Virginia's stupid law forbidding CC in restaurants that serve alcohol, but that's another story), but I would disregard employer prohibitions on weapons. Virginia is an at-will employment state anyway, so I can already be fired for any or no reason (save for sex, gender, nationality, religion, etc).
Then again, I work in a field and in an area where there are more jobs than people to do them, and I don't have a family to support. I can respect gun owners in a different situation who make a different choice, but I've made mine.
When I ride in to work my PM9 is in a SmartCarry, and when I change into work clothes it disappears in a pocket holster in my 5.11's. NO ONE at work knows I carry, not even the coworker I go shooting with sometimes. If my employer ever demanded to search my person or effects, the response would be a resounding "hell no".
