Concealing a 4" GP100

Stop worrying about "no free lunch" with alternate grips.
My 3" GP100 came with the big Hogues, which were fine at the range, but certainly made concealment hard.
I put on the compact Lett's, which I got a great deal on from eBay. Carrying is at least twice as easy. Plus, I have no problem shooting the hottest commercial 357 magnum loads.
But then, my previous 357 was a 2.5" Model 19, and I shot it with the small wood Magna grips and a Tyler t grip...no problem at all.
It's all in your grip.
If I had not found the Lett grip, I would try the very nice wood grips from Thailand on eBay. I've read some great reports on them, the price isn't bad, and they are beautiful.

Which loads?

From least-to-most perceived recoil, the hottest loads I have fired are:

Remington 125gr SJHP
Hornady 125gr XTP
Buffalo Bore 125gr high velocity Barnes

There is a noticeable difference with each step up that 'ladder' of rounds, to me.

Someone asks "how do you guys do it?"

He has his problems pointed out.

He agrees with the assessments....("Yeah, my rubber grips grab the t-shirt...")

Totally ignores all the great solutions given... ("No, I'm not going to do that...")

THEN proclaims there's no solution to his problem! :banghead:

Chill out.

I wanted to know if there was something I was missing. There isn't.

I apologize for not wanting to wear hawaiian shirts all day every day. [I didn't realize that] when people talked about being able to conceal a 4" .357 as their only handgun that they were referring to wearing a hawaiian shirt continuously.

You're missing plenty.

Not all "Hawaiian" shirts have tropical print. I'm wearing a Chaps brand "camp" shirt that's blue checked seer-sucker material . It would never be mistaken for a "Hawaiian" shirt. It can be worn over a t-shirt unbuttoned, or alone buttoned up. (Leave the bottom one or two undone to assist in a clean draw. Learn my "thumb-hook" draw to get the gun out fast.

The large rubber grips that you admit stick to the t-shirt have to go. Wooden grips that properly fit your hand will minimize the kick of the uber magnum loads you insist on carrying. If your hand still hurts, toughen up and deal with it. Did you know they make wooden ROUND BUTT grips for your gun?

At the very least, buy a t-shirt that's one size larger than what you have now and experiment with carry angle and position. .

Dark colors hide better than light colors. Patterned shirts hide better that solid colors. Dark patterned shirts hide best of all.

I wouldn't be caught dead wearing a button up short sleeve shirt. I'm not the lead singer from "Smash Mouth" nor am I 70. Hawaiian shirts...NO...just say no as any well adjusted human being should.

Get the can't right

Get a good actual gun belt

You will have to ditch the square butt grips PERIOD

Buy tee's tall enough for your height not neccaciarily larger. LTall or XLTall. Pull over polo style shirts work well also.

One bit of advice. You WILL lose access to your hip pockets carrying a longer barreled wheel gun so you might want to consider cargo pants for your wallet-phone

I already wear pants with cargo pockets and both front pockets plus both cargo pockets are spoken for. Gotta carry more than just a gun, ya know. ;)

If button front short sleeve shirts are verboten for some odd reason, then a polo shirt with a BANDED BOTTOM works great.

At a glance those grips are the obvious culprit. Not only rubber but the shape of them, particularly at the most critical outside bottom corner are atrocious for concealment. A wood grip with a rounded outside bottom edge would work.
