If I dont come back home with atleast 50 more pieces of brass than I left with, I consider it a bad day at the range :uhoh:

I only shot 50 45's today but came back exactly with 250 pieces. I also lubed up exactly 250 230gr cast bullets yesterday, what are the odds

When does it stop
Where can I find help

My shooting buddy ribs me all the time because he's setting up and I'm picking up brass. :D

If you are looking for sympathy or consolation, you are in the wrong place :)

I'm currently in the process of packing to move, and I can't seem to get my reloading room done, because I keep getting side tracked with various tasks I run across in the process.

The local public range has been very void of brass for at least a year now. Not only are many taking their brass with them but I think there is someone or more than one going to the range very early in the morning and picking up everything that is there. Even the 22LR brass is gone!

I miss the days I could pick up more brass than I wanted to now that there is none. :(

I believe that the reduced availability of brass at the range is attributed the shortage of ammunition on the shelves at sporting goods stores. I used to see several shooters stopping at the range in the morning of their way to work to shoot 50 rounds or so and just leave the brass lay. For me! I'm not seeing too much of that these dys.

I agree the shortage has made the brass being left at the range even more sparse but it's been going on much longer than the shortage. I may be underestimating how long it's been happening around here. It might be over two years actually.

I can not remember the last time I came home with a bunch of brass. there was a time I could easily fill a 3lb coffee can! Now I can hold the brass in one hand. The shortage has made it even worse, I see none now...

LOL...I am the same way.....I just can't help myself when all that yummy brass is just lying there looking all shiny and inviting.

It says...hey there big boy...you know you like what you see...pick me up...I am all shapely and shiny...come on....pick me up

Ummmmm SHINNY! :D

I love collecting brass! I have been doing it for years.
The local gravel pit sees allot of use and no reloaders!
Its a gold mine for me!

This spring I collected 5-6 five gallon pails of the stuff!

2000+ 3006 cases, more 45acp, 9mm, 40s&w, 30-30 etc.

I could not believe how Many 300 win mag cases were there! Its places like this you really see what people are shooting!

I will never have to buy brass again!

Now I have to review how I am going to store all this stuff! Now I collect it, seperate the calibers and brands of brass. Then resize any of the cases i happen to reload for. No shortage for sure! If my son grows to enjoy shooting as well, he wont have to buy brass either.

I'm looking forward to the sight-in starting this next month, Sept. at our gun club. Last year on 2 days of this sight-in, I picked up 260 '06 brass left by shooter's that don't reload, of course I asked before I picked up and stashed them. I had a bunch of '06 brass my Pop had loaded over many years, now when his rounds are shot, I give it a toss into a box for selling to metal buyer's, the once fired stuff I get at the range gets cleaned and reloaded. I hope this year is a beneficial as last.

Went shooting with a buddy of mine, Monday morning and I'll be darned if he didn't start mining the berm for spent lead, unbelievable.

Finally got him back to the bench to shoot after a little coaxing, not to mention the picking up of brass.

Just hope it stays at brass and not move to casting your own Boolits:evil:

As then you'll be mining the berms ;)
Y/D
Not only that, I hang out at truck stops and when the lot lizzards have the drivers distracted, I go in and pull off their wheel weights! kidding but its about to get to that point

The last time I was at a public range, there wasn't much centerfire brass on the ground other than a handful of .38/55.

I picked them up, found myself reminiscing about grandpa and his Winchester,
slowly walked to the trash can and dropped them in.

Mike,
Step away from the brass. Caution, harmful or fatal if swallowed. :what:
If I live to 90, I still will be picking brass and shotgun hulls. :neener:

There's a ton of brass at the indoor range I

shoot at. They have a sign that says "you can only pick up your own brass". But before I sweep, I ask the guys around me if they want their brass and most of the time they say no. Since I shoot a .38 special, my brass is easy to collect. Now when my sister-in-law came down, I collected all of her .380 brass and I accidentally collected some extra .380 and 9mm brass :).

I'm really starting to get addicted to this. I find myself after making rounds, wanting to make some more.

I'm here to help and I will. Send your lubed bullets to me and in return your brass will last you a lot longer.

I too have a problem, first thing i do when i get to the range is look for brass and i pick-up anything.
My boys pick-up brass when they come with me, like to go on monday after all the weekend shooter's seems like alot more brass laying then.

You my friend are just seeing the tip of the iceberg.:what: I plan any long distance trips using Google Earth and look for gravel pits on the way that might yield brass and allow time to stop at each.:D Don't even go into the part about riding a bike along so I can collect the used wheel weights I find around me locally.:banghead: Heck with all this exercise and mental work I might live to be over 100 and still be shooting.

I've noticed when I go shooting lately, I spend more time crawling around looking for brass than I do actually shooting. I think I went shooting last time just so I would have brass to play with when I got home (clean, sort, etc).

By the way, that picture of your brass is ..just...beautiful. I hear angels sing when i see shiny brass. Am I ok?

I think I was kidding
