i too love shiny brass, ive considered picking up a used or cheap tumbler, just to have one for cleaning, and another corn cob media tumbler specially for polishing

You can nove to east tennessee. Seems like 8/10 people at my local range reload. I'm happy when I leave with all the brass I came with.:p

I started this practice just about a year before most others did. I've picked up thousands of cases. I will never need another piece of brass as long as I live...including 223/556.

I've got my wife and kids with the brass affliction. We brass hunt out here at the state lands. This year for mothers day, I asked my wife what she wanted to do. Go shoot and brass hunt. I tell ya, we were out there for 9 hours hunting brass, came home with about 20 pounds of brass and 15 pounds of lead. It's at the point I give her 3 warnings that it's time to pack it up and call it a day. After the third warning me and the kids start walking back to the truck.
Out here the meth heads have figured out they can sell the brass for scrap, so sometimes it's pretty slim pickings.

On another day there was a big group of 8-10 guys doing a group shoot off the road in a clearing and we waited until they packed up and left. Found about 1K .223, 500 .45 ACP, loads of other stuff. The wife and kids saw shiney and they were gone heads down picking. I noticed where the *********s left their trash laying on the ground. Walked over to inspect and found a full 50 rounds of Winchester white box .45 ACP.

Lastly I may or may not have played hooky from work and home to go brass hunt.
