Went out this evening. I had been calling this spot for about 20 min when these kids showed up. They Parked there atv's about 100 yards up the hill walked down. I could hear them talking all the way to where they sat down and started calling. I gave them 15 min to see what they could bring in. after that i started playing with them. They never did see us. I don't think that was particularly wise. Young kids are not terribly unlikely to simply fire on the noise of their suspected varmint afer awhile to scare it out of the brush if they can't see it.

Glad you found it amusing, but I'd have been concerned with incoming bullets

MachIVshooter,

I thought about that. they had Ruger 10 22's and at almost 600 yards i wasn't very concerned.

Haha. Oh well. They'll learn, if they have the patience for it. They really need something a bit better than a 10/22, though. That's bare minimum for power to begin with, and stock they lack the accuracy needed to do the job outside a hundred feet or so.

Most states are seeing big declines in hunter recruitment. Kids have so many hobbies available to them, plus school and school sports. We should applaud a coupla young kids trying to learn how to hunt on their own, maybe mentor them and teach them some of our "old dog" tricks instead of knowingly interrupting/spoiling their hunt and then publicly ridiculing them on hunting forums and youtube. We all started somewhere and I bet there's not a one of us here that didn't look as foolish as those kids at some point in our hunting career. I myself would give everything I have to go back..........

I was thinking yesterday it would be cool to run into them again and talk to them. Ask them if they wana come out with me sometime. with camo and not so much movement. lol

I have no problem killing coyotes by just riding around the edge of fields in my truck. I make lots of noise and have a high success rate. It usually takes several hunts before the coyotes realize that trucks have hunters in them.
