Actually, Wheels, he WAS breaking the CCW law - it says you may carry concealed without a permit if you aren't going to commit a crime, so if they wanted to tag on that misdemeanor crime, yes, he can be charged with CCW with intent to commit a felony.

Doh I forgot about the Arizona constitutional carry. Yeah we have something weird like that in Michigan to regarding knives. It says something like you can have whatever length you want, but if you're going to use it to commit a crime it can only be of a particular length.

Wow, I live in Michigan, and I didn't know about that. You're right. From the State Police site:

Michigan law specifies that a person, with intent to use the knife unlawfully against another, shall not go armed with a knife having a blade over 3 inches in length.

I'm from NY state and went through the gauntlet to get my cc permit. I would be a fool to assume that I am safe because others who have guns went through the same review. Many of the "others" didn't and bought their guns on the street.

There were so many great comments on this thread, like "if the magazine only held 10, would 10 dead bodies be acceptable?" We have to understand that this person was not sane and it was because of that, people died. It could have been a gun, a knife, a bomb, a car, or even a coat hanger.... it doesn't matter. People would have still died.

It's irrelivent that he used firearms to injure and kill those people, however, he was a genetic dud, and should not have rights, or freedom, he should've been in a padded room drinking lemon water from a sippy cup.
See, if America wasnt so caught up in not hurting peoples' feelings, and realizing that if a kid who gets picked on and kills people was messed up in the first place, there wouldn't be blame for the firearms, I don't have enough time to explain how I would fix the problem, but in my America, we wouldn't have any school shooters, we would have appropriate mental care, aka loony jail.

We seem to be repeating ourselves and have started to drift quite a bit so there doesn't seem to be much more we can contribute to our fellow members by continuing this thread. Let's hope that we've provided some reasonable responses to the questions and concerns others may voice as well as some material to counter the canned anti rhetoric when they trot out their tired old arguments.
