Conner Prairie History Museum in Fishers, Indiana (near Indianaopolis) is hosting its 17th Annual Arms Making Workshop this coming October. There's seven days of classes starting with: Bow Making, Beginning Weaving, Hearth Cooking, Leather Work (Portmanteau), Lock Assembly (Jim Chambers), Silver Wire Inlay (Bob Harn), Pipe Tomahawk (Melvin Lytton & Nathan Allen). These are all on Oct 7-8. These are followed by either a week long (Oct 9-13) or 2 1/2 day long clases. The week long classes are: Trade Silver (Don Secondine), Knife Axe, Engraving (John Shippers), Kit Assembly, Stock Carving (Jim Klein), Making Small parts (Bob Harn). The 2 1/2 day long classes that run concurrently with them are: Horn Making (Lee Larkin), Pottery and then Quill Work (Robin Scott) and Bag Making (Ken Scott - unrelated to Robin but a famous bag maker). Prices varies and you can call 317-776-6000 (x241) for more info.

If you're hankering to build your own flintlock (or cap gun), 'hawk or knife, bag or pouch, these classes will teach you how. There's plenty of classes for the spouses (heck, I've taken those classes myself and they're fun too).
