Next weekend is the Conroe Gun Show. Anyone ever been to it at the Lone Star Convention Center? Is it worth going to?

I thought the Pasadena gun show wasn't worth the trip. Is this one? The Reliant gun show was good. Never been to the one at the Brown Convention Center, however.

I like it. It is big enough to have a good selection but small enough to see the whole thing in not too long. I seem to remember that they allow ammo sales. It doesn't compare to the big Houston show for selection but I actually like it better because it is easy to get to and you don't have to fight Houston traffic or pay for parking.

There are two operators having gun shows at the Pasadena convention center -- "High Caliber and" "The Real Gun Show". I find both are pretty good for ammo/reloading supplies and amoung the best for individual trading, but neither gets the big dealers from Dallas so prices are generally a bit higher than for the Reliant or GRB shows. In terms of dealer offerrings I generally find the High Caliber shows a bit better than the "Real" shows. I've found good deals and come home with nothing from both.

Reliant shows are put on by HGCA and rarely allow ammo sales but otherwise are by far the best, GRB are also by "High Caliber" but $7 for parking and a long hike to the parking lots often makes getting ammo at the GRB shows painful. Parking at Reliant has gone up to $8 at the last show and is an even longer hike :(

Are the Conroe shows put on by Saxet? I used to enjoy these when they had them in Spring/Cypruswood, just past FM1960. I remember them being intermediate between the Pasadena and GRB shows in size. The GRB shows flucuate in size quite a bit lately, some are as small as the Pasadena shows.

Some shows are better than others even when the promoter is the same, and it depends on what you are looking for as to if it was a good show or not.

OK, thanks for the info. I think I'm gonna pass on the show, then.

I was hoping to find an A/S Walther P99.

You certainly won't find it by staying home. Any gunshow is worth going to.

+1.

Particularly if looking for something like the P99 A/S which seems to be going the way of the dodo.

Spring and Pasadena are about the limits of how far I can travel, have enough time to look around, and get back in time to take care of other weekend obligations. Conroe I'd pretty much have to make a day of it, so I'd be happy for some feedback about these. We've got a lull in Houston area shows with only one I'm aware of between now and late April.

OTOH I thought there was a rather large show in Dallas "Market Hall" this weekend that might make for slim pickins at the smaller shows.
