If the Glock fits your hand, it's a good choice. The XD has different ergonomics, so you might want to handle both of them and see which one feels better. FWIW, I chose the XD for that reason.

2.25" Ruger SP101 in .357mag or the NEW 327mag. I carried a 3" Colt Police Positive in 32/20 for many years and I loved it.

I'll second the EMP vote above (though mine did not feed HP untill I "broke it in" with 400 rounds of FMJ). It's tiny. It's accurate. It delivers an adequate punch. It's a 1911. 'nuff said. If you appreciate fine tools, it's worth the price. If you don't, get a Charter Arms Bulldog.:neener:
