Hey guys, Ive had an itch for a new gun. The main role of this gun will be CCW. Curently I have a CBOB, and a G19 for CCW, so Im wanting something smaller then the two. But Im just wondering what you guys think of the XD40SC? Also feel free to post some pics. And is $512 good for a Bi-Tone xd40sc? THnaks alot.

I bought a XD40SC for my wife about 6 or 8 months ago. One thing that you have figured out if you've seen it is that the SC is not SC. It is a big, thick gun. I can't imagine trying to carry it IWB due to the thickness, but everybody's different. Not to mention hers was fitted with Crimson Trace grips witch contributes to thickness of the grip.

The recoil is pretty snappy as well, it hits harder than my PM45, but it still isn't just terriblely bad. The only malfunction it has ever had was 3 times in a row my brother shot it and the slide release locked the slide back wile the mag still had ammo in it. I called Springfield and they got me to ship it to them (on their buck) and I got it back 3 weeks later and have never had another problem within the additional 500+ rounds that has gone through it since.

All in all I'd say it's a dang fine gun. I let my wife trust her life to it, and I'm one of those guys who likes his wife. I also think 512 is a pretty good price, especially if you want the SC in Bi-Tone. That was exactly what my wife wanted and the Bi-Tone in SC seemed to be hard to find to me.....I bought the only one on GB at the time.

i used to have one, and it was reliable, accurate, and actually very controlable and shootable for a sc. however i didn't shoot it very much and i sold it. good gun though. btw i had no issue carrying it iwb or owb, heck i carry a service model xd.

I really like my XD SC .40. I have a Firedragon 9MM conversion barrel for it as well. I am a huge 1911 fan, but the XD is a great little autoloader.

I have one and I carry it IWB without any problems. Getting the proper holster and wardrobe selection is the key as it is with all guns.

I have heard others talk about how snappy the recoil is. While that may be the case for a lady it hasn't been an issue for me.

Find a rental range or a friend with one and fire it for yourself. What works for me may not be the same for you.

All I can say is, mine has been very accurate and reliable up to this point as I'm sure all the XD line are (this is my 3rd XD ;)).

The XD-SC is a great shooting gun. I bought a XD40-sc for CCW a few years ago. I quickly found that I tended to leave it home more than I carried it. The gun was just too thick for me to comfortably carry. The SC is similarly sized to your G19 so you don't really gain anything size-wize. That being said, many people believe that the grip safety of the Springfield gives it a significant advantage over the Glock 19. To me the addition of the grip safety really balances out the never-ending manual safety v/s no manual safety argument. While I rarely carried mine, I did truly enjoy shooting it. I used it in several tactical shooting classes and it was every bit as accurate as the 4" guns that most people were shooting.

I like the Springfield XD-SC but in the end it was just to thick for me to carry on a daily basis. If I were looking for a new carry piece in .40 cal, I might lean more toward the Kahr CW or PM series or the Walther PPS.

I love my xd subcompact. I have no problems carrying it IWB (comptac minotaur holster) and it is great at the range. It eats everything I feed it and is more accurate than I am. It is a little bulky for summer carry so I picked up a kahr p380 for that, but now the cooler weather is coming the xd is going out more and more.

Xds are fantastic guns for the price, but the sub-compacts suck IMO. A 3" barrel XDsc weighs significantly more than a glock 19/23 with a 4" barrel, for example. XDs are very robust and solid gun, but if you are going to get one do yourself a favor and just get the 4" service model. I had a XD40 and also a 45, both 4" service models. My XD40 was sooo much fun to shoot, while my brother's XD40sc is a real pain to shoot. With a quality IWB holster concealing the XD40 4" is just as easy as carrying the XDsc. Why bother with a gun as heavy as the XDsc if you only get 3" ballistic performance?

I have a XD40-SC that I am very happy with. It is a bit bulky and the recoil is a bit snappy but I like the way it fits my hands and I like the way it shoots.
