Considering this, what would be your next purchase?

All of the above..........only if you're paying. I'm a little surprised the overwhelming majority chose the 1911. Since it is a semi auto pistol, which I already have, I may be inclined towards a different direction. Like was suggested, round out the collection before buying similar items. I like the idea of the Mark III, and am now going to get one because they are so cheap, but assuming the 1911 will come several months down the road, what would one pick?

My next purchase is probably going to be a Bolt Action in .243 Win., if you want a larger caliber go for a Bolt Action in .308 Win.

Your Birthday present

I know this isn't exactly what you had in mind but it has gotten great reviews. I have a STEVENS 311A DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN for sale. interested?

If it helps, I'm thinking in the $600 range.
It does help. Get a used Ruger MkI/MkII/MkIII for around $200 and a NIB RIA Tactical 1911 for $400.

There you go: a very shootable 1911 and a classic .22LR autoloader. Please note that this is possibly the ONLY suggestion on THR that has ever come in right at the OP's stated budget! :neener:

The suggestion to get a reloading setup is a good one as well.

Your collection is well-rounded with essential classics already, and your considered approach to future purchases is obviously along the same track. Good job! I tried to do the same, but there are a few goofy/redundant impulse buys in my safe.

well, the 30-30 would probably be a better "plinking" rifle. levers are just way more fun :D ! as for the pistols, that one is a toss up. if you are going to hunt with it, i would say the 357, but if they are just for fun, the 45 is probably a little more fun. but that is just my opinion. good luck with your decision!;)
