Considering a conversion barrel for my Glock 23 gen 4 (40 cal) to a 9mm. Buying a Glock 17 is to expensive right now. Anyone have positive or negative experiences? Thank you!
Worst case scenario is that you will have to swap the 40 cal extractor for a 9mm extractor. Other than that, by a good quality barrel from a reputable manufacturer/vendor.
I have a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion for a G22, and a KKM 9mm conversion for a G23. Both work very well for me with 9mm magazines. If you want to practice clearing jams, use the .40 magazines and you'll atleast get the opportunity.
No issues with either barrel btw. Though I prefer KKM (for no discernable reason). I have 4 conversion barrel from them and they're all excellent.
Having to change the extractor is NOT a given. On some slides you will need to swap the extractor and other slides you will not. One won't know until they shoot their pistol with a conversion barrel installed. And yes use the correct caliber specific magazines.
