Is this a good deal ?

1872 richard and mason colt conversion. this is a reproduction made by uberti. chambered in 44 russian, an origional chambering of this weapon. they did this by convertiong the colt 1860 army cap and ball pistol to a cartridge revolver. i also have about a half box of shells with it. 400 dollars

Technically it's an 1860 Richards-Mason conversion. The 1872 date may cause some confusion. The originals were actually chambered in .44Colt and I don't believe any of the new replicas have ever been chambered specifically in .44Russian. Although you can shoot them in .44Colt and .44Spl guns as it is shorter than both. Your price may be a tad high but not completely unreasonable if in minty condition. I'd rather see something around $350 for a used one. They're about $500 new.

I could live with paying that much for it, if it passed inspection. Although I'd try to get it for $350.

Beware that if it's marked .44Colt, it's probably chambered for .44Colt and thus won't chamber .44Spl's.

I had one in .38 special, probably gunsmith made as it was built on an 1860 by ASM. Like an idiot I sold it, to buy an Uberti ''Thunderer'' in .357, with about a four inch barrel.The Uberti is pretty sweet, but nowhere near as accurate as the Armi San Marco.
