OK, she (my cousin-in-law) wasn't an anti, but she has never fired a weapon of any sort. So I took it my duty to introduce it to her (especially when the topic came up and she was enthusiastic over the idea). Of course since it was the first time it had to be special and worth remembering, so I arranged weapons from 2 categories - semi-autos and full-autos-only.

Weather played with us a bit, as there was dense but light rain that eventually stopped, but at least it was calm.

But everything in order:

Her target was set up to close range, 50m.

Waiting for everybody to get set and ready. As I said it was her first time ever, so she was pretty anxious.

We did some dry practice before, so the stance is pretty much OK for newcomer. Here getting ready to let it rip.

And the target gets some.

After one mag was emptied up in a hurry, it was time to reload. 'Cause the first time the handling of a firearm took a bit force (muscles not used to that kind of work). But the happy face is showing up :) So the converting has begun.

What? target is still moving and insulting your Momma?

wow full auto conversions aren't they illegal lol?

I thought semi or full only.

But seriously well done and lovely gun make model just to doublecheck my idea. bren gun 45?

part 2

So the target gets some more. I also had to have a quick trigger finger, to catch her in the middle of a short burst. They're both smokin' hot.

In the meanwhile it was time to get some warmth inside, so back to the truck. Here she "stole" the camera, to shoot the truck as it was her first time to ride one of such (and caught me too on the pic).

attachment.php

The truck was also our field kitchen (food is in the boxes).

But back to business. The smile is getting larger - this gun is light and suppressed, cool.

attachment.php

Why the hearing protector? Here are our neighbours, closer one being TRG-42, chambered in .338LM and other two in 7.62x54R  She was actually stunned by the size of the Lapua Magnum cartridge.

part 3

In action (smoke and even an empty case are visible). Her comment - this was pleasant - light and didn't kick.

attachment.php

Since she really got the ball rolling she actually loaded the mags by herself (I had to lend a hand before).

attachment.php

She did pretty well. She shot the SMG with half-filled mags, so here are the latest results, including the .22Lr rifle. Still a 50m target.

attachment.php

Hey, what's that? That's an armour plate that goes inside the vest to protect from rifle rounds, even 7.62. Splats are made with 9x19mm, dents with 7.62x51mm FMJ and the hole with 7.62x51mm AP.

What was it shot at with? This baby. She said it was heavy, but she sensed it's getting to be fun.

Excellent! Good for you, and her! She looks like she had a great time. Heck, if my first time shooting involved full-auto, I think I'd be smiling too. :)

It's amazingly gratifying to teach new shooters the ropes. Even if she doesn't become a shooter herself, I'm sure she'll carry the memory of that day you took her out to the range for the rest of her life.

Well done!

part 4

But yeah, a chance to shoot a GPMG is too good and it does create big smiles. But man, ain't it heavy, 12kg and counting.

attachment.php

But hey, the target gets half a belt shot at it, so it just wasn't it's day. pic is straight in the middle of the action, smoke is seen around the muzzle and in front of it. And the empty belt gets longer and longer....

attachment.php

After that she also shot a hunting rifle, .308Win cal, standing. She did a good job, but I wanted to shoot the SMG too, so no pics about it.

Part 5

To end the day in relaxing manner, we went to shoot my sidearm. Don't wince too much over the stance, first time and all. But she was eager to learnd and did very well, she left a lot of guys ashamed.

At the background is our range, a peat bog (that's why the truck has big wheels).

OK, the stance might seem odd, or the closed eyes strange, but look at the next pics

attachment.php

Target. First shot ever from a sidearm - exactly center 10. So center that it couldn't be any better. Oh, and she had a "bad" habit to shoot the patches off the previous holes.

attachment.php

And a while later the target's center is a whole mess

She giggled over the whole day, as a small girl in doll store, and definitely wants to go shooting another time, again.

a Uni Mog!!!!

I am so jealous right now I could just squirt..

Not only full auto but a freaking MOG. I have wanted one of those for years. Can i be your friend? Seriously, that is one fantastic truck. I've been a huge fan of Unimogs forever.

I want the Uni with the Radio Box. Make a heck of a camper. But the cloth top is nice too....

I am soooo jealous right now.

As much as I admire your fine firearms, I too want to know more about the truck. That thing rocks.

Dope

That truck is a Unimog

made by Mercedes and one of the coolest rides this side of a Hummer. It is of course 4 wheel drive and will climb a tree if you let it.

I saw one climb over a 32" concrete barrier. They come in 3 sizes and all kinds of configurations...

Makes a Pinzgauer look like a pile of bantha doodoos. <so many references> It can slap a hummer around in a 4x4 contest.

Well done!
I would not recommend the prone position for a first timer with a heavy recoil model, but I can't argue with the obvious good results.
Again, well done.

Interesting!
Is that submachine gun a Carl Gustav?
I've only seen that one other place; a forty year old TV show used by a young Robert Duvall ... took me awhile to identify it because I'd never seen it before.
