I'm going to be receiving a standard AK 47 stock for Christmas this year (from my lovely wife who lets me pick out my gifts) and I went with a cheap stock to save money and because if I screw it up I'm not out too much.
My questions are pretty self explanatory in the second picture, but basically, I'd like to try to shave off the outer part of the sides of the stock to match my slant-cut receiver.
1) Has anyone done this or seen it done? Or for those with wood working experience, is it workable?
2) Will the loss of material on the stock displace the groove for the tang and will it be a problem to either extend the groove or just drill the screw on top of the new stock?
3) I'm not looking for an easier way out, but would it just be better to fix the stock as is and just try to fill the gap?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
