Converting my Glock 23 to a true Glock 19

I picked up a couple Glock 27's cheap. Sent 1 to my best friend in California.
Kept one for myself which I converted to 9mm using a 9mm Glock extractor and a cheap Combat Armory 9mm barrel.

Looks to be out of stock.

Works / shoots just fine. While there might be a little more slop in the barrel to slide fit using a non-conversion barrel. I really don't notice any lack of accuracy shooting at my 10 inch 25yd gongs.

Bear Creek Armory also sells relatively inexpensive conversion barrels:

So let me get this straight. You are using a G26 barrel in a G27 slide?????

This is not a good thing to do.

The barrel hood that fits against the breech face is 0.035" smaller on a G26/19/17 barrel. The barrel diameter is 0.020" smaller on the G26/19/17 barrels. That is an awful lot of slop between the barrel and slide. I am surprised it even functions. And I bet the accuracy is terrible.

Do yourself a favor and buy the correct conversion barrel if you want to shoot 9mm in your G27.

Seems like a target is in order, will get one up in the next day or so.

It still is not safe nor correct to use a G26 barrel in a G27 slide. The dimensions are different at the breach and diameter for a reason.

But hey it is your pistol and your safety. Don't take the word of a retired machinist/gun smith. And I see that you are also from Missouri. I hope that I never run into you at a range when yo are shooting your pistol with the wrong barrel installed.

A little over dramatic, don't you think? With your years of experience as a gunsmith and machinist, surely you have seen pistols with sloppy barrel to slide fit. I have and I'm not a machinist, most of them were Sig 226's.

0.005" to 0.010" slop yes I have. 0.020" to 0.035" slop is way too much and is unsafe. The old worn out "battle rattle" 1911's we used in the service didn't even have that much slop. Plus there is a safety reason why Glock makes the 40/357 barrels bigger than the 9mm barrels.

Use the correct barrel and don't be Bubba the backyard gun wrecker!

Ok - I ordered a conversion barrel for it. Grumble grumble.

Update bought a Lone Wolf 40 to 9mm conversion barrel for my Glock 27.
Had multiple failure to feeds with it. Lock up between the barrel and slide is tighter.

Putting my Combat Armory Glock 26 barrel back in it.

I have a G32 .357 Sig, and I run a Lone Wolf conversion 9mm barrel in it.
I didn't change the extractor and it run s fine. It's a Gen 3 if that matters.
Also have a .40 barrel for it, don't remember what brand.
Like having 3 guns in 1

You probable need to hand fit the Lone Wolf barrel to your slide then. Ye drop in barrels occasionally DO need to be hand fitted. Please use the correct barrel for your slide. As state before, using a G26 barrel in a G27 slide is not safe nor will it be reliable.
