With advice from everyone on this board, I have decided my next rifle to be a .204 Ruger. I really like the looks of the Cooper and Kimber varmint models, but I have never shot either. I want a true tack driver with killer wood, but the most I want to spend is $1200. Which one would you guys and girls get?

I'd go with the Coopers. I don't own one....just drool at them when I see them. I've never heard a single bad things said about Cooper accuracy and I think the wood they use is a little better looking that Kimber. Kimber makes a fine rifle and it's really about personal taste, but my vote would be for the Cooper.

There is a gun shop around here that stocks both. While the Kimber is indeed a very nice firearm, I believe the Cooper is a cut above. Every single one is BEAUTIFUL. Each cooper also comes with a target that was shot by that particular rifle. These guns are insanely good shooters.

Reach on out there and buy the Cooper.

I had the same dilemma about 2 years ago. Against the advice of some friends, I went with the Cooper and have never regretted it. When compared side by side to a Kimber, it's head and shoulders above. (Plus, I wanted the left hand bolt.)

Mine is a .308 MTV, and with proper loads it will shoot circles around anything else out there short of a full blown target gun.

The only frustrating thing is that at the range, most folks mistake it for a Kimber anyway, as Coopers seem to be not that well known in these parts :banghead:

Either way you go will be good, it's just my feeling that the Cooper is a step up from the Kimber. Remember too that a gun like this will likely spend several generations in your family, so buy accordingly.

I like Kimber pistols, and I have an older Kimber Model 82 Govt. in .22lr. However, given the test targets and accuracy guarantee of the Cooper if you have the money for both the Cooper would be hard to beat.

While I think Kimber makes a fine rifle, Cooper is a step up in quality, accuracy and just plain workmanship.

I vote with my money and all my rifles say Cooper on the side.

I can vouch for both.

I have an Kimber 84M in .22-250 Very nice trigger out of the box, I have had no work done to the Kimber and it out shoots my abilities.

With that said I have a Cooper 22vr in .243 and it is a superb rifle. Probably better than the Kimber, but as I said with the other, it will out shoot my abilities.
