Has anyone done any tests of the rust prevention properties of these three products? I use FP-10 for lubrication and some cleaning (along with MPro-7), and have been relying on it solely for rust prevention. I don't live in a climate where its a problem, so I need to enlist the experts here.

Which is better/best?

Lately I'm hearing that Eezox wipes em all for corrosion prevention. Could just be the cleaner du jour though.

I don't have any further info on the following picture aside from what it says but it's pretty interesting. This was posted originally on Glocktalk and then someone posted it on hs2000talk.com which is where i saw it:

I believe the 100F 100% humidity pictures used a humidity cabinet to test the panels and the original testing can be found here:

http://www.bpcr.net/site_docs-results_schedules/documents/corrosion_tests.htm

Some other corrosion tests are online at:

http://www.thegunzone.com/rust.html
http://www.g96.com/TR-01-97.pdf

It is also worth noting that some of the corrosion tests you can find online are done to promote a specific product and not all of them are obviously labeled as such.

You can usually find what will work in your area with a handful of nails from the local hardware store and the abundant supply of free samples or a few drops from someone who uses another brand.

Interesting. One reports bad things about FP-10, the other great things. In any case, it seems to be consistently on parr or better than Breakfree CLP, my other main choice.

Good news to know.

One thing all tests above show conclusively (along with tests done by the US Navy) is that Militec sucks!

The highest average temperature on file for a single month in Louisiana is around 93 degrees.....so, I'm assuming the conditions were in some sort of controlled environment.
He did not ask about air temperature, he asked about humidity which is totally different. BTW: the famous story about how the "cajuns" settled in Lousiana is this: they were people from the Acadia province in Canada or Nova Scotia who were driven out of there and started sailing along the east coast trying to find someplace they could settle where the locals didn't shoot at them and run them off. They got all the way to the hell-swamps of Louisiana before they found land nobody gave a damn about.. and they stopped right there. The word "cajun" is actually a corrupt derivation of "Acadian" and the cajun language is a drerivation of French which has many words the same and many not the same. Bottom line...... there are tons of 100% humidity days in that area.

It is a poor rust inhibitor but my own personal tests on sears with carefully measured trigger pull tests shows that Militec liquid is the slickest lubricant on the planet, beating FP-10, disotec, and every syn gun oil I tried. FP-10 is the best all around CLP type product because it does all three things well.

bountyhunter,

Good point. When I said that I was just thinking of all the people I've heard recommending militec on the outside of the gun for rust protection. I can't figure out why it continues to see popular use as a rust inhibitor. Do you possibly have any tests that show how long Militec continues to provide superior lube before the lubrication wears down?
