Does anyone have any experience with "CORROSION X"? After 23 years of shooting and trying a gazillion lubricants and protectants, I believe I've found the veritable "Holy Grail". This stuff is wonderful. :D

So far, I like it. Not much of a cleaner, but then it's not advertised as such. Seems to be a fine lube and an equally fine protectant.

CORROSION X is a great rust inhibitor, used on airplanes, they have a different formula for steel. I use it on the outside and bores of my guns. Use a different one in the action. It is not great on moving parts, but good on non moving. It doesn't tend to gum up, and tends to go into the pores of the metal, and stops rust. One of the best I think for that.

CorrosionX is the best rust proofer that I've ever found. It even keeps my pocket knives from rusting and I always rusted them out pretty fast. I don't apply it as often as I should, but it lasts and lasts. It's a pretty fair lubricant too.

It wasn't designed as a solvent which would explain why it isn't good at it. There's been so many solvent/oil/rust proofers combos hitting the market in the last couple decades that a lot of folks have come to expect one product to do it all. What I've found is the combos like CLP do it all, but none of it particularly well. CLP isn't a great rust proofer or solvent but it is a pretty good lubricant. About the only do-it-all product that I've found that really works is Ballistol. I'm not sure how well it works as a long term protectant though.

Only thing I like better is Eezox.

But I have a can of CorrosionX as well (if I run out of Eezox).

Is there any difference between the CorrosionX for Guns and the plain old CorrosionX? You can only get the gun formula in a 4oz bottle, but the regular stuff in larger (and cheaper per ounce) containers.

Also, does anyone know if the stuff is as effective when applied over something else (like MPro7 or FP-10) used as a cleaner & lube?

I use it and Eezox both, for different things. For the hinge on a folding knife, the parts of a firearm under the stock/grips, a place where you want protection without wetness. Clean it off, put on a thin coat- on a knife just a drop into the hinge and work it around- and let dry.

For a place where a wet lube is no problem, C-X.
