Anyone use this stuff on their firearms?

A friend of mine picked some up and I purchased a bottle from him to evaluate. Just from what he has told me about it, it sounds like snake oil to me. He works for a gun shop and is in charge of maintaining the CCW test range guns. He uses the Corrosion X to clean them
. He has reported that there has been a considerable decrease in malfunctions since he began using the stuff. He said that he was using just Breakfree CLP before. He told me that the Corrosion X uses a sort of polar technology. The way he explained it was that the liquid is actually attracted to the metal, like a magnet.

I have used it a little. So far I dont see it being any better than Hoppes #9 when it comes to cleaning. It may show to be a good lubricant though. I am using it in a Glock 26 ,19, and 17. Also using it in a Colt 9mm carbine. Only time will tell. Supposedly, this stuff is really suppose to shine when it comes to protecting the firearms from rust/corrosion. I have a few more tests that I am going to set up for this stuff, so I will report back what I find.

If anyone is using this stuff, I would like to know what you think of it. Thanks

I used to build application systems for Corrosion Technologies they are just down the street from the old shop. Over time they gave us just about every formula they came up with.

I like Corrosion X aviation, MIL-C-8139E, the best.

Used to use it on high corrosion areas on aluminum parts of aircraft. During annual inspections it had killed or prevented new corrosion from appearing. Have never used it on a weapon and certainly know nothing about it's staying properties as a lube. It was sprayed in areas as an extremely fine mist. Let us know how it works as a lube.

I have used CorrosionX (the CorrosionX for guns) for years. I like it a lot.

It's thicker than a lot of gun oils, so it doesn't run off quickly. The thing I hate about Break Free CLP is that it's so thin, it doesn't stay where you put it. Once you start shooting a lot and the gun gets hot, it makes it worse.

I used to use FP-10 a lot. But it separates if it sits for a while, which always bothered me. Also, it seems to run off and thin/dry out when I shoot a lot, althought not as badly as Break Free CLP.

My understanding is that CorrosionX would have passed all of the Mil-Spec requirements for CLP, but it was too thick in cold weather. I have no idea if that true. But I can believe it.

It doesn't seem as slippery as some other lubes, but I've never tested it. In all of the tests I can remember seeing, it protects against corrosion very well.

I don't know how it is as a cleaner. I don't use it for that.

I think the smell is a little odd. It smells like automotive gear oil.

I have been using Hoppes #9 for a while as a solvent/cleaner. I really havent found anything that beats it yet. I normally lube with Militech. Militech definitely out performed CLP when I was in Iraq, especially in our crew served weapons. I brought plenty home with me, probably a lifetime supply LOL.

I just got done using a little bit of Strike Hold. A friend gave me a bottle to try out. He said that it is the rave with the carbine guys. I personally did not see it as anything special. What it would do is creep into every crevice it could find. It will loosen anything you have loctited in as well.

Seems effective at preventing/stopping corrosion around the house. But I hate the smell too much to use it on guns other than a coating on the firing pin, spring and channel of my Tok pistol shooing corrosive ammo so I don't have to drive out the split pin so often.

I have a Glock 26 that has recently started rusting in one small spot on the slide. I havent figured out why it started rusting in this one spot, but it is just in that one spot. The XS rear sight also has started rusting, but this was expected. This G26 is my on duty back up gun. I carry it in a vest holster and it is exposed to sweat. I sweat a lot, and it is hot and humid down here right now. What a great chance to try out some of this Corrosion X.

I put a coat of Corrosion X on the slide and the rear sight. The Corrosion X did not work on the Glock's slide. The rust returned after two days. The rust on the rear sight has not returned so far.

I have cleaned several rifles and pistols with the Corrosion X. I have not seen it work any better than the other stuff I use. I am still planning on evaluating it a little more.

I use Corrosxion X HD, the same kind used for marine application. I have used it on pliers that had actually been submerged in saltwater and locked closed due to corrosion. Sprayed Corrosion X on the pliers and they work perfectly. Use this pliers all the time now in saltwater to take hooks off fish. I am thinking of using it on my knees to see if it will take care of my arthritis.

Corrosionx

Corrosion X to clean them

THAT has got to be expensive. I bought the small 6oz spray can for about $11!!

Looks like it will make a fine AR oil, but I would hesitate to use it for cleaning. I'm trying a variety of lube products to see which product leaves the least coking in the BC.
