Cosmoline removal ??

Remove all metal from stock. Spray metal liberaly with easyoff oven cleaner. let sit for 15-20 min. Wash off with HOT! water (HOT water will heat up metal and it will dry itself). And then just clean normaly with bore solvent and oil. Works every time and is cheap!!

Foaming engine degreaser. Cheap. Works well. Also, it doesn't hurt paint markings(like the ones on the grenade sight of a yugo SKS) like brake cleaner can.

There's a product called "De-Solve it" sold at Wally-world. Orange scented, strips the heck out of old cosmoline, and doesn't dry the stock. Brake Cleaner works great on the metals.
