Hey! Its time for me to shop for ingredients now... So I'm wondering how much are you mortgaging out for supply's?

I walked into Sportsman Warehouse last night seeing .40S&W NEW casing $20 for 100 :what: I could buy 100 Blazer Brass 180 FACTORY rounds for that much.
CCI Sm Pistol Primers for $23.00/1000

Any how I've been looking at the Local shop around my area and it seems to be $$$
So how much are you paying for: Local Shop/Shows? (Do people bargain at shows? I think you would but I'm no great sweet talker:neener:)

Primers- Sm Pistol, Sm Rifle, and LG Rifle?
Powder- AA#5, W231, H335, and etc...
Plated Bullets - 40.S&W, .223, and 308.

Primers - around 23 to 24 per 1000
Powder: AA#7 was 18 after tax for a lb. H335 was about the same.
Plated bullets: I found 500 Ranier .400 bullets that I use in my 10mm for 37$, 500 X-Treme plated for 9mm was 43; I haven't loaded a lot of 223 yet, but I bought Winchester bulk stuff locally for 8 bucks/100.

10mm is definitely cheaper to reload, 9mm is about a wash unless you buy in huge quantities online, and 223 isn't a steal but is still cheaper than buying factory.

I avoid all of the big sports stores; their prices generally stink to high heaven. For most components, I actually go to the online auction sites. I've bought 500 45 ACP cases for under $20. Lead bullets for the 45 ACP for under $29 per 500.

Primers and powder I get at small local stores; right now the price for a pound of powder is about $24. I have found Accurate Arms 3100 for $17.99. I may just go back and buy up every last pound they have.

Primers are now going for about $25 per thousand; I bought 4000K worth when they were under 20 bucks a thousand.

Cabelas is a rapist with reloading supplies, ammo, and guns. Avoid it like the plague.

I buy powder and primers locally, usually at the fun show. I've been paying around $15.50/# for powder and $20/k for primers for the past 12 months.

Brass I get from the range, my own factory ammo, and various online sources. Check gibrass.com, brassmanbrass.com, and ammobrasstrader.com.

Bullets have mostly come from Midway but their 1/1/08 increases have me looking elsewhere. Wideners.com, grafs.com, tjconevera.com, powdervalleyinc.com are some sources.

Always buy in bulk unless you are reluctant about a new product. Always.

Last month at a gun show I was able to buy Winchester primers for $21.95/k. I bought W231 for $62/4 lb. jar. ($15.50/1 lb.) IRM9895 was $17.50 a lb. I usually don't buy Brass, I usually buy cheap ammo when it can be found and reload that Brass. I did buy some .45 Auto Brass for my son at the show. I bought 500 once fired and cleaned cases for $20. I buy bullets online when I find a sale. I just bought a few Thousand Laser Cast 230gr LRN .452 bullets for $60/k and 158gr SWC .358 bullets for $48/k from Cabela's.

For some reason the Gander Mt. near me is WAY out of touch with prices. They are charging $29.95/k for primers and between $24.95 and $29.95 a lb. for powders. Needless to say, I'm not buying anything from Gander Mt. any time soon.

Network!

And think ahead. Did you get any GI Joes gift cards for Christmas? North of Seattle, Joes has been the cheapest for me for Powder. Although my local one owner sports shop is competitive.

Kesselring Guns in Alger, WA is competitive for components, but they won't let me buy primers by the thousands. For rifle plinking they carry Nosler seconds in a bin, (or used to). -cheaper than packaged and I haven't found accuracy issues.

I was running low on some CCI 300's recently. My nephew called to tell me he was in MECA.. Ie; Cabela's in Tumwater one afternoon. I had him pick me up a brick of primers while he was there as long as they were less than $25 out the door. (primer prices have gone up) -That saved me fuel to Kesselrings.

Kesselring's again for rimfire 'Target' ammo, but now I'm mail ordering Aguila for pistol and rifle matches as a bulk order with my nephew. We both save that way.

Brass? I'm a range hound, otherwise I network with buddies that shoot but don't reload. Even if they're shooting a caliber I don't. I get their once fired brass and horse trade for what I need. Once you've got thousands of pieces of brass for each caliber you shoot, then each gets reloaded less. Brass prices here on THR have been pretty good.

Lead for the 1911? I pour my own. Wheel weights from my local tire store is cheap. Lynotype off of Evilbay or anywhere else.

Other than that, A Sportco membership pays for itself if you live in Tacoma/Fife area if you shoot a lot. My membership has long lapsed, but when I'm in the neighborhood I still stop in for competitive prices for bullets.
