coult it be better?

howdy, new here, picked this thing up not to long ago, MLR 1722 in 22lr, it shoots 10 shots in a dime at 50yd, i cant seem to get it smaller than that, i have not shot at 100yd yet, it has that academy bsa 4x16 (little much for .22 but whatever) do you think this rifle(being stock from magnum reasearch) will shoot any better, or should be shooting better than it is..

What ammo were you using to put those ten rounds into a dime size group? That is pretty good for a semi auto. If you did that using Federal bulk pack ammunition, I'd say quite whining and go shoot some more.

On the more serious side, if you just got the rifle you probably haven't put it through its paces yet. I believe that .22 rifles are more picky about ammunition than any other caliber. I'd suggest getting your hands on as many different brands and types of ammunition that you can. Although high and hyper velocity is lots of fun to shoot, the standard velocity stuff is usually what will get you the tightest groups.

I have a 10/22 that I've done some work to and in its latest iteration, it shoots the best with Wolf Match. That stuff is SLOW moving. When shooting while looking through the scope, the bullets look like spit balls moving toward the target, but they do hit where I put the cross hairs.

had the rifle a little over a month,ive put about 700 rounds through it,only ammo i use in it is cci standard velocity 1070fps 40grain target, the range is about 10 minutes away..

Different ammo could help, but it is shooting pretty good as is. Serious match 22lr shooters sort by rim thickness and total bullet weight. This could help improve it a bit.

I was introduced to Wolf Match by a friend of mine that let me shoot a mag's worth out of my M&P15-22. I was blown away with the accuracy as it halved my group from 4MOA to 2MOA from a prone position. Used it at an Appleseed event - ran very well too without a hiccup firing over 500 rounds in two days without cleaning (Although I did that with CCI Velocitors too. but still!)

Tried it in my Marlin 795 and my groups also improved in a similar manner. A shining example of how .22 ammunition can make a difference in your groups.

i have model 700 VS in .223 also and when i first got it and was testing ammo i shot a "Wolf" brand and it was very inconsistent,the casing was that dark green/brown color if you know what im saying, is this a different manufacturer or just higher grade product

Wolf .223 ammo is garbage, it's steel cased non-reloadable ammo that stinks. The wolf match .22lr ammo is very good however and worth a try.

i appreciate yalls .02, also thinking of selling my other model 700 .17fireball, and stick with the .223. what yall think?

Wolf Match Target is made in same factory in Germany as SK Standard owned by Lapua. It's imported and marketed under the Wolf Brand here but is 100% same ammo as SK Standard. You can usually find the Wolf MT for less.
