I've been wanting to buy a Walther P99 for a long time, it's one of those handguns that has been on my list to pick up for years but I always just put it off.

I recently sold off two handguns that I wasn't really using anymore and made a good hefty profit off them. Most of the money went to bills but with some of the remaining money I decided to go to my local gun shop to look for a suitable replacement for the two I sold. When I saw they had just gotten in a new Walther P99AS in .40 and just I couldn't resist taking it home with me.

I absolutely love the trigger on it and I've always enjoyed the way the P99 grip feels. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I hope this weekend at which point I'll update this with a range report.

Anyway I thought I'd show off my newest family member!

Looks good. Do you actuate the mag release with your trigger finger or thumb? I have big hands but I could never drop the mag without shifting my grip on the walthers I've handled.

I use my offhand to release and catch the mag on both my P22 and PPS (similar mag release). Both of those are beyond "drop-free" and actually eject the mag with enough force to toss it a few feet if the barrel is pointing up.
You can release it with your index finger if the goal is instant reload without regard for the empty mag.

Congratulations. You just gotta love the P99. I've got two of them, a first generation full-sized version and the P99C, and take them to the range frequently. I've fired thousands of rounds through them without so much as a single hiccup. They are incredibly accurate, reliable, dependable. The P99 is the real deal, to be sure. Don't leave home withouot it.

One of the most comfortable and ergonomics pistols I have ever handled. Especially if you have smaller hands like I do.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm very pleased with the purchase and can't believe it took me this long to actually buy one.

I'm now thinking my next handgun purchase may be a Walther PPS:D

local gun shop actually has been getting smith and wesson 99's (walther lower and smith and wesson slide). these are factory overruns that are coming with night sights already installed... all for less than $500.. I have thought about getting one.. got a steyr m9-a1 instead, but I will probably be looking into getting one soon...
