Looking for some ideas. I have removed and milled down the rear sight block on my AK-74 since I am using a Tech sight and find the original sight block distracting. Has anyone else removed their rear sight, or have ideas on how to fill/cover the unsightly gap?

Sounds like youre on the right track. Rear sights are cheap and plentiful, if you ever change your mind.

The rear sight base is necessary as part of the gas system as the piston reciprocates in there. Too, without it, how are you going to lock down the gas tube?

These pics aren't the best, but I hope they give you an idea what the rear sight block looks like after milling. There now no obstruction between the new rear sight (Tech Sight) and front post. Just thinking about a more elegant solution.
