The wind had picked up and the storm had arrived. Dad was using the hand sqeeker about 15 feet in front of me. I was in the willows watching up the river. After about 15 minutes the wind was howling and the snow horizontal. My leg was just going to sleep. I thought to myself we better get moving out as nothing will be moving in this stuff. I stood up and broke a branch. Dad looked at me and motioned..... I thought he motioned that it was time to leave. I dropped my Polecat monopod and as I looked left and down to it I saw this coyote running right at us on the river. I shouldered my 22-250 and thought about which bullet was in my chamber. It was either a v-max or a spire point. A split decision as I knew I had the spire point and picked up the copyote in my scope at around 40 yards, this close I know I would have really messed up the fur if I had the v-max. I pulled the trigger and she fell, on the run at that. The rest is history.
