The title of a front page article in today's paper and it reads:

John Stine,19, recently competed in the trifecta of North American silhouette shooting competitions to win the 2023 Lapua Monarch Cup and be crowned the North American Silhouette Champion. He resides In Denver City, TX, a small town about 30 miles east of me as the crow flies. He also competes at the Hobbs Gun Club where I am a member. Having no interest in chicken killing I know nothing about any that do compete except one older person and he only complains about how his shooting ability is declining.

It is good that the shooting sports are not taboo here and the paper also publishes the 4-H shooting results during summer which includes rifle, pistol, shotgun, and bow.

The chicken shooters are a club within a club here. You have to be a member of the gun club and also a member of the silhouette club. They have a very nice facility behind a locked gate inside the gun club's locked gate. There are quite a few members and they host several competitions each year. This is an excellent area to learn to read wind as it seems to always be blowing. My hat is off to the those that participate. It takes a very good shot to hit those tiny little animals with any consistancy.
