I was all set to order a butler creek folding stock and a couple 25 round BC mags for my 10/22.. then I found out that Connecticut still has an assault weapons ban in place that does not expire, identical to the federal one.. :(

Well the mags are already being shipped to me, so whoops.. (hehe). I'm still pissed off I can't be 100% legal though, can't wait to get out of this state. :mad: I guess I'll have to get a BC folder with the stock welded open.

Let's say, hypotheticaly, if I get caught with the high cap mags. What would happen, would I go to jail? :rolleyes:

Yup, mags are no problem. Perhaps you can find a deal on a "post-ban" that somebody is looking to get rid of... ;)

I suggest you join the Coalition of CT Sportsmen. They are the local group that works with the legislature to hopefully repleal this stupid law in the near future.

I do find it interesting when gun owners say, "I didn't know we had a ban still." Nothing personal Kevin, I live in the PRK and you wouldn't believe how many gun owners I have been explaining things to lately. I highly recommend you join your state organization and hang out here if you ever want to get that 10/22 folder.

Heck, I've got a never-fired Armalite I'd love to unload. I'd like to get a no-ban, and really don't feel like reworking the post-ban to no-ban configuration. I'll bet there are a lot of people in a similar situation.

None taken, Lone_Gunman. I am a very new to gun ownership, my 10/22 rifle is my very first gun which I just bought a few weeks ago, so please excuse my lack of knowledge. (not sure the best way to put that) I'm just finding out all about these gun laws for the first time, when I first heard the AWB was expiring I was pretty happy but then of couse I had to learn of CT's own ban.. :banghead:

Great news about the mags though, I'm now happy again. :D I'll just have to buy a stock with the fold welded open to stay 100% legal. Thanks for the advice guys, you have a great forum going here and I hope to stick around. :)

Why not buy a normal stock? The folding stocks I have seen are usually much less comfortable and of lower quality. You would be better off with a stock desgined to stay open, IMO.

Hey, I don't see anything about folding stocks in that link..

Just this:

"1) Any selective-fire firearm capable of fully automatic, semiautomatic or burst fire at the option of the user or any of the following specified semiautomatic firearms"

The specified list of firearms doesn't seem to apply to me, could this mean a folding stock on a 10/22 is legal?

(3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: (A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (B) a thumbhole stock; (C) a folding or telescoping stock; (D) a grenade launcher or flare launcher; (E) a flash suppressor; or (F) a forward pistol grip;

Says a centerfire rifle with a folding stock, doesn't mention rimfire, does this mean I'm in the clear??? :p
