Criminals with BB guns, and a town that's had enough!

One of the funniest (and best) things I ever saw happened in a Wal-Mart parking lot in Hemet, California. I was just pulling in and I see a guy running with five or six guys chasing him. There's a chain link fence surrounding the parking lot and an apartment complex on the other side. This guy in front hits the fence and tries to scale it 'on the run'. He gets grabbed, drug off the fence and the beating begins. I'm thinking 'WTH?'--and then I see a local SO sloooowly strolling out of the Wal-Mart store heading towards the fracas. He doesn't seem to be in any big hurry so I just hang out and watch.

Turns out the guy getting beat knocked down and ripped the purse off a mother of two. It just so happens the cop was inside on another call and found out what was happening. Some of the local boys didn't take kindly to the perps actions and dispensed justice. The cop finally got there and took the well beaten bad guy into custody. I don't believe anything was done to the guys who dispensed justice. The attempted robber sure looked happy to finally be safe inside the cop car!

I'm not condoning general vigilante behavior but wen folks get pushed up against the wall...well this sort of response shouldn't be a big surprise to anyone.

Why not? vigilante justice freaking rules! Get on the bandwagon now while you still can!

They did come back a second time, right? They are lucky they still have a pulse! One of my daughter's lives in an apt. in Memphis. She carries a 9mm in her purse. Second time around, she would have pumped them full of lead! We shoot people for that chit, down here!

This is a good reason why newspapers are laying off writers, editors and many others. People will just NOT continue to read the bias they produce.

As a former resident of Augusta County, Virginia, I can testify to the fact that The News Leader is one of the most anti-gun, leftist papers on your newstand. You will find one anti-gun op-ed piece after another in that paper and it occurs almost on a daily basis. You'll soon learn why the local populace has dubbed the paper, "The Misleader."

The Roanoke Times ain't got nothin' on The Misleader.

I appreciate your guys taking the time to write Brad a letter. I agree with you that this article leaves a slightly sour taste in my mouth.

However, both of your letters to Brad was guaranteed to cause him to be offensive. You aren't going to be able to have an intellectual converation (thus he won't see your point of view) when you say things like newsflash, BS and call him scum. That's is my 17 cents. Slightly higher due to inflation.

They were abused children. :neener: Far as I can tell, they got a good and fair working over.

Come on, boys, when you write something like "You are a despicable criminal sympathizer, and are no better than the scum you are defending" you're not going to get a positive response no matter how right you may be.

Perhaps a bit of tact might have gotten useful results?

Perhaps someone just needs to tell the newspaper writer that he's a poopyhead. Let's bring out the big rhetorical guns of argument and persuasion.

I'm not at al surprised by the misleading tone of the article, what surprises me is these to idiot crackheads get spotted and run off on the first try, then come BACK later, not only knowing full well the women must have talked to the cops, but they come back with bb guns, and if that werent dumb enough, they PROVE to her that the guns arent real, or particularly dangerous, by popping her in the leg, telling her to run (knowing she'd going straight next door to call the cop, AGAIN) then stick around to steal stuff. Man, crack must REALLY just rot your brain completely. What a pair of COMPLETE and total idiots. Wanna take bets that when they get out in a few weeks, they come back to try it a 3rd time, and dont come away with just some bruises?:D

I have to interject here for a moment. For all the rule of law that we here on this website argue and espouse for, we must say no to mob justice; and yes to the rule of law.
I think one must keep a civil tone when writing officially to anyone outside of the circle of family and friends. I think it is a good policy in general. You get your point across much more effectively if they are reasonable people or a reasonable person.

I agree with everything JohnL2 just said with the following exception

I will not call 4 people who stopped 2 criminals a mob. In my mind and until proven different they were a posse

NOUN:

1. A group of people summoned by a sheriff to aid in law enforcement.
2. A search party.
3. A gang involved in crimes such as running guns and illegal narcotics trafficking.
4. Slang A group of friends or associates.

ETYMOLOGY:
Short for Medieval Latin posse comitts : Medieval Latin posse, power, body of men (from Latin, to be able; see potent ) + comitts, genitive of comittus, county

It's good to see citizens taking action. I will not call them vigilantes, as they are not roaming the streets looking to mete out justice. As a society, we've too long backed off and been afraid to get involved when we saw something wrong. We've taught our children that the police will defend us, we need not be responsible for ourselves. Sorry, but a good beat-down does a criminal good.

Here's the perp pics from the link ZeSpectre posted.
