Crimp 9mm for Semi Auto?

Hi friends,
I've been reloading 9mm for about a year now with great results, and I've been shooting those handloads through a 9mm Uberti single action revolver. These rounds have never been crimped.
I recently acquired a Beretta 92FS, and I've taken it to the range a couple of times, but I've only put factory ammo through it. Before I try to reload for this pistol, is it necessary to crimp your handloads intended for a semi auto?

Thanks.

I taper crimp with my Hornady custom seating die and that works just fine. Model 19 Glocks can have problems otherwise. As PO2Hammer said
"straighten out the flare should work just fine" and that's just what a taper crimp can do.

No, just straighten out the flare.
Your revolver ammo should work fine in the Beretta.
Thank you. I don't flare my 9mm cases, I just chamfer the inner side of the mouth as others have suggested. Will try some of the revolver rounds next time I go to the range...

I never crimp 9mm. Run the expander short of the bellmouth and seat the bullet. No crimp necessary. Shot a couple thousand rounds or so through by my Canik pistol and 9mm AR. I do hit them with the deburring tool.

Of course with cast bullets bellmouthing to not shave the bullets and crimping to eliminate the bell are required.

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
You probably are loading jacketed, or maybe plated? Cast or coated are prone to shaving unless you flare enough, in that case a taper crimp will neck the brass back down to kiss the bullet.
