I am interested in getting my first set of Crimson Trace grips. I see that they make a set which works for K, L and N-frame round or square butt. That certainly would cover a large part of my S&W revolver collection! I like the look of them, especially since they appear to cover the backstrap and are made for large hands, like mine.

Model LG-207

Now, I have never seen these except for a picture, but it seems odd that one grip will fit all those butts. Is this true? Is it a tight fit? How is the material and feel?

Any experiences with this model, or CTC in general?

Thanks,
Robert

I have a set of those on a square-butt L-frame 686. They fit well, and the laser is very accurate. Only beef I have is that they are made of hard plastic, so with full-house .357 Magnum loads, my hand feels it rather too much for comfort. I'd go with the LG-306 design, overmolded with soft rubber, if you're at all recoil-sensitive.

There is a surprising amount of consistency thru a good many Smith grip frames - so can believe this fitting many.

I have the plastic grips on my SP-101 version which I just got recently ... in fact I would personally choose the plastic. Someone had a rubber version and bemoaned the clothes hang up prob.

I had some Hogues on before these CT's and those, as well as Ruger std grips, hung up on my shirt . made me have to keep checking for a tuck of shirt getting caught ... and displaying my ''wares''.

I agree, these grips are a tad more punishing when shooting but I'll accept that where carry is the deal ... much better now and if ''push came to shove'' ... these grips will do just fine!!

IMO - don't discount the plastics... even if recoil is a tad sharp on the hand.

I rate the CT as a product . I am fully converted . mind you it's a fair old price to pay but .. worth it IMO. If you ain't seen it go look at my report on mine ....

Those look smaller, and are not out yet. Do you have them?

I chose the hard plastic for my S&W J-frame carry gun because of the "hang-on-the-shirt" factor. But I intend to get the soft rubber type for my K-frames Model 10 & 18. (But I think I'll also get a pair of nice historic grips for the 18 just for show.)

See the CT forum here. Also see a low-cost vendor who lists his current inventory here.

I can't tell from any descriptions which models are rubber and which are plastic.

If you look at the 3 models available for larger S&W's, the "overmolded" grip stands out clearly. Witness:

1. LG-207:

2. LG-206:

3. LG-306:

The LG-306 (overmolded) looks like a rubbery finish compared to the obviously more "plastic" finish of the first two. Also, the activation button on the front strap is covered in rubbery material on the LG-306, whereas it's just a plastic button on the first two.

Hope this helps.
