So I have this Van Hoy Snap Lock knife that has seen better days - I'm missing the thumb stud and the blade has a bad nick.

I called CRKT today in order to find out what it would cost me to replace the thumb studs and service or replace the blade.

I spoke with a very polite and chipper sounding woman named Ivy, who advised me that the thumb stud assembly would be covered under warranty and she took my information down - that stuff along with a new set of teflon washers will be here within 1-2 weeks at no charge to me!

She further let me know that if I'm unable to sharpen the nick out of the blade that I can send it in to them, and they will either get the nick out for me or replace the entire knife at no charge to me.

I've got to say, it's refreshing to get old-school customer service from one of the larger knife makers in our "disposable" society.

Once the parts get here and I reassemble the knife, I'll post up a "finished" pic

It's partially serrated, do you have the attachment to deal with serrations? I might consider it.

It was my EDC knife for quite a long time, and I'd love to be able to carry it again without being embarrassed

I'll let CRKT do it then, but I do have a couple straight edge blades I might send out to you - Matter of fact, I think I PM'd you a few months back about that...

I don't here much praise on here about CRKT knives but I am a fan, I am on my 3rd M16 not because they broke but because I lost them. They are my constant companion, sharpen up well, open fast, light and slim, and lock up as solid as FT Knox, I can't say that of some 110's I've owned over the yrs.

I've dealt with CRKT before, no muss, no fuss. Sent me a replacement knife, in fact they sent me a newer and higher price model.

I'm one of those who either loses or gives knives away, so I started buying CRKT knives years ago. CRKT makes an excellent knife for the money. I recently bought 4 of their voyager knives at $20.00 each; these were on a close out at REI, So I should be good for several years.
