I just ordered a horsehide crossbreed supertuck today for my xd-9 sub. I have read plenty of positive reviews and think it will work well. Does anyone here have any opinions on the crossbreed supertuck?

Kinda late to be asking for opinions isn't it?

Kholster is the same holster for about $30 less.

I have a Kholster and Crossbreed-horsehide. I had to trim the Kholster and the Crossbreed fits well out of the box. I like them both.:)

You will not be disappointed with your Crossbreed. I' have one for every handgun I own and will never own another brand of holster for concealed carry. They're customer service is excellent, too. I had some cracking in the sight channel of one of my first holsters from trying to heat and adjust it myself. I asked what I should do to fix it and they said to send it it for replacement and they did. They're just awesome!

The Kholster doesn't seem to cover as many models (they probably can do more than they list, though) and that much leather around the gun doesn't seem like it would be very comfortable for the guys with a little "spare" around the waist.

How does the Crossbreed compare with the Minotaur MTAC or Spartan?

The Spartan and the Crossbreed are pretty much the same design except the Spartan is nicer (a little bit better built/finished) and has changeable bodies. The MTAC is nicer than both but a bit thicker due to the extra lining. I think they're all pretty good. I think the best example of this style holster is The Answer by Tucker.

Crossbreed ST is awesome. I have two and love them.

I went on a 5-6 mile day hike the second time wearing the one I got for my PPS and forgot it was there within 5 min of walking. That's pretty awesome for a not-even-broken-in holster. You will be a satisfied CB customer.

Can't go wrong with a Crossbreed! Great customer service should you need it.

What's the advantage of horse hide over cow hide for those of you who have tried both ?

Horsehide is pretty much impervious to moisture. That is why it is just about impossible to dye and folks that make holsters with it leave it natural without trying to dye it. Mine seems stiffer than cow leather, but I think it also holds it's shape better because of that. I think Crossbreed is a great company and supporter of the gun community, but I'm not a fan of the price. I have a Bluegrass Hybrid Holster (company now defunct) that I use with my XD-9 Sub and my XD-45 Compact:

I've been wearing it for about 6 months now and it seems to be getting more supple, but it has very little actual wear to the finish. Given the option to do it over, I would order the horsehide option again.

The horsehide versions take longer to break in (mold to your body shape) because they're a lot stiffer than the cow hide. I think I like my cowhide better, but they're both very good.

The only advice I can offer is to get the combat cut from Crossbreed. Other than that, they're great stock.

I don't understand the griping about the cost...at $70 for a holster that will last for the life of the gun, that's a damn good deal. Anyone price Milt Sparks stuff these days?? Sheesh. It's no big deal to drop $200+ on any one of a number of holsters.

Well, three months later the crossbreed has broken in nicely. I like it a lot for carrying my springfield xd subcompact. You cant tell I am carrying a handgun even when I wear a regular t shirt. The fact of the matter is my gun is too damn big to be truly comfortable, even with a crossbreed holster. I find myself carrying my Makarov and wanting a Ruger LCP more and more.

Just received mine for my sig 220. Great holster I can sit down and bend over etc with no discomfort. Very comfortable

My opinion:
Too cumbersome to put on quickly. Too bulky for a skinny guy to wear comfortably.
If I can't put it on or take it off in 2 seconds, then I wouldn't wear it every time I go out the door.

i have a super tuck, and i have been wearing and training with it at the range. I like it alot. mine is the black leather version, as that is what they had at the gun store. it is super comfortable to wear all day long, even seated in a car on a long road trip i forget that it is there. one thing that makes it so comfortable is the fact that the backside is leather, and wide, so there is no "pressure" point on your hip, lower back etc. it distributes the weight and the holster over a wide area. very concealable as well, not only because it is a "tuckable" but even without tucking it, it is still great. and there isn't much more you could ask from an iwb holster. it is also very adjustable as far as depth in your pants, as well as cant.

i will warn you that there is not much "retention" when you put the gun in the holster, but when you are wearing the holster and the gun is cinched down under your pants and belt the retention is fine and plenty, and it gives you a smooth easy draw.

i wear mine on everything from a 1 1/2-1 3/4 belts, with no adjusting at all. i carry a sa xd service model, and i have nothing but great things to say about it. i will continue to train with it, and carry it, and i will let you all know if i cahnge my mind, but right now all is lloking good.

Too large and uncomfortable. Difficult to put on and take off. Overpriced. Customer service going south since the company got involved with XD Forum. Gun retention could be better.

So far happy with mine but it is my first IWB. I carry a Walther P99C in it.

Can't go wrong with a Crossbreed; some competitors might be a bit "prettier", but (duh!) no one is ever going to see the thing anyway. Super company with great customer support.
