I looked at one of the new Ruger Mark III Target models at Bass Pro today. It had the 6 7/8" tapered barrel and adjustable sights. It was nice, but I was puzzled at what I saw around the front sight. There appeared to be a thin line of some light-brown stuff on either side of the front sight blade, and just a bit at the front and rear of the front sight as well. The sight itself appeared to be secured by a roll pin, but I wondered if Ruger had used some sort of adhesive, too, and maybe they didn't clean it up very well. Has anyone else seen this? The saleman said it just looked like dirt, and he even scraped some away with his fingernail. But, the fact that it was so evenly distributed on all sides of the front sight made it look to me like something other than just random crud.
