Maybe I'm over-thinking this and if I am just say so.
I bought some surplus pistol powder at the local gun show a while back from a trusted source. It was sold as surplus and I was told to use Universal load data. The only information on the canister was a tag that said Surplus Pistol Powder with some load data: 115gr 9mm 4.6gn 1150fps, 124gr 9mm 4.2gr 1100fps +P. I'm only putting the 9mm data since that is all I'm loading with it.
After doing some research it looks to be the CSB powder that seems to be so new. I know of another guy on a different forum that got some from the same guy and at one point someone said it was the CSB-1 so I thought that is what I had. Then I started looking in to it and comparing the colors between the two it appears I have the CSB-5. See the pictures below to see the color of mine compared to the color on the RIO website.
Does it really matter if it is CSB-1 or CSB-5? Should I just go by the Universal load data and not worry about it?
Thanks
