I ever mention I have some really neat folks I know?
Then again some of you have probably have figured out Rebels, Outlaws, Renegades, Desperado's , Curmudgeons and Reprobates are considered "normal" attributes with me and my kind.
This fellow is about my age,tad older, wife/mom passed, so just he and his daughter.
She calls me Desperado
Her mom was a Southern Belle, quite the lady, still she could out cuss a sailor and keep her pinky out from the good china drinking coffee at the same time.
Her dad, Curmudgeon she calls him, quite smart, got a PhD and - basically they spoil each rotten and really have been known to shock folks.
Both parents had the shooting gene. This brat, was shooting before she learned to ride a bike.
Nice guns, including Nice Custom fitted Shotguns. Her mom did too, and these put up still.
Some years ago, they decided to not shoot the nice guns anymore.
He remembers the The Great Equipment Race, and not happy with Folks trying to buy skill and targets.
So right off the bat, guns all put up, first thing he gets is a Pawn Shop JC Higgins in 12 gauge. $85 IIRC.
He doesn't even clean the thing and runs out and shoots 100/100 at Skeet.
Daughter had to have one so she found a 20 ga JC Higgins.
$95 IIRC and she, being her, shoots 125/125 with hers.
Somehow this means daddy takes her out to eat. We still ain't figured out she come up with this...still...
The deal is to find an old gun, shoot it. Eventually get around to tweaking the fit and sticking a Pach Decel on 'em.
Then again, sometimes shooting one as is "because them old guns are antiquated, won't work, or whatever" just means "Wanna Bet?"
Tip: Do not bet against these two, you will lose.
Folks with the latest greatest, and they ask what is that gun "Blue with wood" and where is the screw in choke "what is that?" and how does the barrel come of "It don't and why would we want to?".
What choke is it? "Heck if I know, ask the Pattern Board"
I mean after the latest greatest shoots 76, and 82 respectfully, and these two shoot 102/100 [they keep score different, taking doubles with one shot counts] they are still using the wrong guns.
This is what they do. He found this poor pitiful 870, in need of attention, apart, plain barrel and paid a whopping $60 for it.
Daughter found a old 1300, in need of attention, and got it for $80.
Clean up , make right and go shoot 'em.
I wondered where they were.
Daughter got in the mood for Spanish Food.
Both can cook well, still going out to eat is a fun treat.
These two ran off to Spain for two weeks.
"Daughter said luggage needs using or it turns to mush".
They come back, been out and about, shooting , taking in sites and basically mis behavin'.
They get these "ideas", just out of the blue.
"Wanna see if we can shoot 1000 /1000 ?
"Sure, why not?"
Email was to inform they got carried away, they shot 2001/2001
Just kept shooting , not missing and figured 2001 as good a place as any to stop.
Now they got this thing with old .22 rifles going on.
Found a pair of old Rem Nylon 66s.
Found a pair of Rem 5xx single shot .22 rifles.
Sorta neat to me , then again I am of like kind.
