anybody recently receive their form 4? can you ballpark how long it took to receive from the time your check was cashed?

i remember reading a forum where people routinely posted their wait times but i can't remember where it was.

go to the forums on www.subguns.com.

From recent reports wait times are the shortest they have been in years. The move to WV has been very positive.

About 3 weeks from receipt to check cashing, and the status then changes to "pending". About 4 weeks in Pending status. So roughly 2 months with some give and take. Be careful what you see on the internet. I got mine approved in January and for the Nov - Jan time period people were starting to report "really fast 4 turnaround time"...

I still see spurrious "nn days f4 transfer" posts, but I haven't seen any first hand. Not saying they aren't happening, just that they're the exception, not the rule.

Now, 5320.20's (out of state transportation) - 1 week, fax to mail box. Twice. I never had to get one under the old regime, but 1 week isn't too bad. And, BTW, I called my examiner on the 1st one and she faxed me an advanced copy that day... :)

Definitely an improvement from my experience and what I've heard, but not perfect ...

My Form 4 which cleared in July 2005 took 150 days.
The one that cleared in 2/2006 took 75 days.
The one that cleared 6/2006 took 56 days.

Last year, mine took from the end of February to the end of July.

Now this was during the transfer to the new digs in WV but my examiner AND supervisor could not be reached by telephone for WEEKS.

My last one took approx 60 days from mailbox to mailbox. But that was around a year ago. I've heard the process is quicker now that the NFA branch has moved into their new offices and lost some of the dead weight.

The last few I did definitely took less than 60 days.

Depends on examiner, my last can picked up today finally had the f4 at dealer Saturday after being approved 4/18/06 check cashed 11/9/05, pending 12/8/05 approved 4/18/06 along with 3 others after calling Congressman. I guess the last missing F4 was punishment for calling Congressman.

Better service at WV? Can't tell by me. The old incompetent staff moved with them.

I never sent a check, never called to see if it went pending, never called Congress: just let the examiner have time to do his job instead of talking on the phone.
    Seemed to work for me.
Imagine how much time out of the work day, each examiner has to spend on the phone with people having to check on the status of their stuff ? I have read numerous posts over the years from people on these boards who do stuff like call their examiner every week just to let them know that they exect them to be at their beck and call. Common sense would seem to dictate that this could have nothing but bad consequenses. At best the examiner can't do their work because they are on the phone. At worst you annoy them to the point that they accidently drop your application behind their desk. So why would I care ? Well because while you are talking to them on the phone they not only arn't working on your application, they arn't working on mine either.
But, as always, what do I know ?

My last one took 89 days from pending to approved. That was this spring.
