I would like to know if there is anyone out there who makes custom barrels for revolvers. I would like my next gun to have a different look, kinda like some of the S&W Performance Center barrels, or maybe something completely different.

I kinda like the look of the Clark Custom guns with the slab side. I am just looking for options now. The gun will be a Smith for sure.

Thanks ahead of time!

James

Here's my Clark-barrelled 1977 Smith & Wesson model 27.

The original factory barrel was 8.375 inches long, and never did shoot straight. The gun kept closet space from going to waste for quite a few years.

I eventually sent it to Clark for a six-inch bull barrel, which, unfortunately, proved far too heavy for what was left of my arthritic wrist. I had my local gunsmith shorten it an inch and shave quite a bit of steel off the sides. It's now a very accurate gun. The trigger still isn't—and doubtless won't ever be—as good as a Python's, and the Badger plywood stocks leave a bit to be desired, but at least the gun is finally a straight shooter.

Buy a performance center gun, it will be cheaper, will be just as accurate and relaible, and you will have a full lifetime warranty.

In addition if you decide you dont like it and want to sell it you wont lose 3/4 of what you spent on it.

The top 3 pics in post #2 are of one of the S&W Performance Center revolvers. That is the factory-installed barrel.

Rexster,

Do you know what model designation that was? I wonder if they still make it? It kinda looks like a 627 v-comp barrel...modified.
